Hi! IF you're willing to share, I thought it might be helpful for the rest of us to better understand what the market prices are for the 200 series (and LX 570 I suppose). I'm personally looking for one, have found a few, and curious what others' purchase prices have been so I can negotiate (or not) properly.

Please share purchase price, year, mileage at purchase, and location (east/west/south, etc...)

Thanks and happy hunting for those also looking.

Curious if those of you who have recently picked up 2016+ LX's cross shopped w/ GX550?
We went to the dealership to put deposit down on a GX550 overtrail but after taking a look at the interior, didn’t even feel like taking it for a test drive. Very disappointed with the quality of materials and the cheap look/feel. So, we ended up buying a 2021 LX with 32k miles for $70k. Couldn’t be happier with the decision.

Real LC flex. It’s true. But OP can get more bang for his buck with an LX at this point.
Oh yes, the LX was always a better bang if you do not care about the LC name plate or slightly better offroad clearances. Personally, I am a sucker for LC and gladly paid the premium, but a pampered 2021 LX with low miles is probable right now the best bang for bucks.

I might be lighting the fuse on a tiny little powder keg here, but I am looking for some feedback. I am beginning my hunt for a 200 and have only ever test driven a 2013 briefly. Is the 8 spd worth paying a premium for? Are there any years that are better for any reason? I figure I will buy the newest, lowest mile rig I can afford, but I am open to feedback. I am meticulous with maintenance, but I do not baby my rigs, so this will be not quite a daily driver, but close. I also plan to use it for long trips and light to moderate off-road. No rock crawling...I have 80s for that.

Our 2016 with the 8 speed is better in every objective way versus our 2011, but I enjoyed the 6 speed driving feel more. The 2016 transmission/throttle tuning is a lot more sluggish and lazy.

Has anyone done any motor/tranny tuning on the 8spd 200s? I wonder if there is any worth while fettering to be done on them.

Have the TSB done if necessary
ECT mode on all the time
Pedal Commander
Sport mode

It's still not super great but will be fine if you want to get after it

One more question on this topic that has probably been asked and answered...LC vs LX570? Are there any compelling reasons to go one over the other? The LX has that terrible(to me) front end, but they are selling for a bit less than the LCs.

LX will have AHC, LC will have KDSS. Long term reliability concerns aside, your average buyer is probably better served with AHC over KDSS.
LX generally has more interior features; the audio system is apparently among the best you can get in a SUV.
LX also has that remote mouse thing to control the infotainment which most people don't like, myself included.
LX styling changed a lot (especially front end) throughout it's life cycle; LC styling changes were more conservative by comparison
LX allegedly requires premium fuel (on paper?), consensus among posters on the forum seem to not be unanimous that they agree with that though.
LX, due to it being in the luxury SUV segment, has more aggressive deprecation upfront in the first 5 years or so compared to the LC, the difference seems to mellow out a little over time (but there is never parity)
I like the colors on the LX more

All that said I personally want a LC. Waiting to find one that I like.

Regear is kind of that for the 200s. I've been meaning to get down to Tucson. If you want to spend some time going through a built 200, I'm happy to make the trip when I get back in town.

Thanks for the feedback. I have both LC80 and LX450 rigs in my fleet, and while that is the first of the LX line, it still has a few minor quirks over the LC. I like the styling of the LC200 over the LX. I have time to be patient for the right one to come along.

Yeah looks were the main reason I got an LC over an LX. LX might be objectively better in many ways but if I’m spending that much money I’d rather have the one that looks better to me

Great answer above by Evergreenist. Regarding the front end of the LX, it is controversial though I do think it grows on you over time. That said, if you're planning to put a front bumper on the truck, you'll likely be cutting that grill anyway. For example, here is a photo of the Lexus J201 concept with the CBI bumper. I'm using this bumper and sliders on my LX 570 as well.

Great list. Important to note that, after initial depreciation, you can get into an equivalent mileage and year LX for significantly less money than an LC (roughly $10-15k difference typically, if not more).

Buy my LX :)

Unexpected return to cruiser ownership, actually went looking at a late model 4r and saw this on the same lot. Caredge had it sitting for 2+ months and the dealer was motivated to move it. Brought it home on Valentines and began to investigate more of its history as it looked so well put together as a package. The last two days have been a deep-dive into 200s on mud.
Come to find out this is an Ed Martin build and spent most of its life in KY before it landed in the Houston metro secondary market.
2019 w/85k miles for $56k w/rack,sliders,rear bumper and BP-51s. (Thanks to @Eric Sarjeant for the spec list!)

That is a pretty awesome deal for my area. Congrats.

That's a sweet deal indeed. I pay attention to online sites (autotempest, cars.com, autotrader...etc.) as much as I can. But it seems like some dealers doesn't list their inventory online, and a lot of great deals I see people get (mud or FB) are vehicles that are not listed on those sites.

One of my local dealer had a 2017, decent deal but wasn't my color. They never listed it online. If I didn't stumble across it while getting my service done I would have never known they had a 200 series.

Nice, but why does it sit so low if it has BP-51s? Just curious.
