Hi! IF you're willing to share, I thought it might be helpful for the rest of us to better understand what the market prices are for the 200 series (and LX 570 I suppose). I'm personally looking for one, have found a few, and curious what others' purchase prices have been so I can negotiate (or not) properly.

Please share purchase price, year, mileage at purchase, and location (east/west/south, etc...)

Thanks and happy hunting for those also looking.

Posting a comp that I was actually fairly serious about checking out, since they price seemed fair.

2009 LC, 130K miles, $26K. Some mods (OME Suspension, ARB Bumper) and frame was a little crusty.

Listing deleted of FB after about a week, so presuming this was sold. The @TheLCProject and I chatted a bit and agreed pricing seemed pre-COVID.

I was also interested in this truck and the price seemed great. The owner seemed like a stand-up guy only issue was I was a bit worried about the rust and originally I was looking for 2013+ LX with lowers miles and ventilated seats. He did say he could drop it to $24K but without being able to see the rust in person I didn't want to risk driving 8 hours there and 8 hours back.

Yeah had it not been 4 hours from any reasonable sized airport, I think it would have gotten a lot more interest. Fair price, good mods. Hopefully this is the signal of some reasonable asking prices.

Should there be any concern with a 4 year old NH 200 series? I'm waiting on pictures of the under carriage but have zero experience with the salt states.

If you live in the North, it is going to get rusty at some point. If you live in the S and want a pristine vehicle, then hard to know. 4 years old in the NE would not scare me so much, but some people used these things to tow boats into saltwater, love driving on gravel roads that cause abrasion on the undercarriage, etc.

It is 2023, anyone that cannot snap a few pictures of the undercarriage is suspiciously hiding something or absolutely tech illiterate. Dealers that are selling are just volume based and will probably get a buyer anyhow, but others that want a fair price should easily provide something.

It's a dealer and while waiting on pictures, it turned out that someone put a deposit down yesterday. So may be a moot point. I'll share them when/if I receive any.

I'm in TX and I'm looking for a long term vehicle for my wife to drive now and then for me to inherit for fun down the road. This vehicle has exceptional history on the Toyota site, but it was all in NH until the seller presumably moved South and traded in for a MB.

This one from Cali is back on the market on eBay:

This was offered verbally to me at $19k. Advertised at $23-24k.

Now listed at $25k

Passed on the white 2008 at 198k miles. I definitely liked the all leather steering wheel. Official photos have been posted here: Used 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser for sale in Dublin, CA | Your Dublin, Pleasanton, & Livermore Toyota Dealer - https://www.dublintoyota.com/used-Dublin-2008-Toyota-Land+Cruiser-+-JTMHY05J985000266

Looks good in the photos but they aren’t showing much of the wear and staining.

Now eyeing a 2008 with 88k miles for $34k. Single owner, dealer-maintained.

You live in one of the best states for lack of rust, so I would encourage you to look locally rather than one of the worst places in the country for rust. I was just in the Northeast last week and was commenting with friends about how crusty nearly every vehicle was over about 5 years old - and that was just what we could see driving at highway speeds. Land Cruisers hate rust - don't buy a rusty Cruiser they are NOT a good deal. I have a 2008 from Austin with 199k on it that looks close to new underneath and have seen terribly corroded 200s with 50k on them from rusty parts of the country.

Was looking at an earlier 200 series - low miles at 70k, bulk of its life in the Deep South, last few years in New England. Top side and interior spotless. Underneath, not so much. I’m sure a good dousing of fluid film will stop it, but heaven help you when you start to work on it. I passed.

1-owner in California with dealer service until 198k - I'd jump at $19k easily.

I've been on the hunt for a few months, just decided to expand my search. Found this truck in FL and then was surprised to see it has a NH history. I'm assuming the person who put the deposit down purchased it since I haven't heard back from sales, so this is a moot point.

One of those dealer service records diagnosed a failed head gasket. And the single owner had a pack of wild animals for children.

It was a pretty compelling offer though. This 2008 has the full leather steering wheel without the wood inlays.

Interesting, goes to show CarFax record versus dealer records (no HG mention on Carfax), and listing pictures versus seeing in person - interior shows well in their pictures.

Correct. Always consume all available info on a vehicle before buying.

I'd assume the entity in IL did another, better cleaning than the dealer in CA.

I'm curious as to why post it here and not initially say the car was a POS with a busted head.
Maybe I'm missing something...

$20K 200K miles is about right where these LCs should be, but not quite there. Have seen a few pop up right at that price point and mileage, but most are fairly ratty looking so this gets a tentative thumbs up (if no HG issue was present). Headgasket issue here a bit unique, but if that was not there this would be a good buy. Even if you have to replace the headgasket for maybe $2500, if you can wiggle down from that $19K you could still be in good value territory. However, whole lot of unknowns around that engine and I would not want to be paying for a full engine swap...

Exactly.

@open country This vehicle was posted by me a couple months ago because it seemed pretty compelling, but I ultimately couldn't wrap my head around the potential for a head gasket issue. It appears that the head gasket was a misdiagnosis. However, the vehicle is now in Illinois for $5,000 more.

I quoted the earlier posts to help those just arriving here to be able to read back and see what was going on with it.

Because the head gasket apparently isn't an issue, it could be a decent rust free vehicle for somebody in the Midwest, assuming they can get the price down a little bit more.
