Hi! IF you're willing to share, I thought it might be helpful for the rest of us to better understand what the market prices are for the 200 series (and LX 570 I suppose). I'm personally looking for one, have found a few, and curious what others' purchase prices have been so I can negotiate (or not) properly.

Please share purchase price, year, mileage at purchase, and location (east/west/south, etc...)

Thanks and happy hunting for those also looking.

I think there will be an impact, because now a lot of buyers will have a choice to make. It's too early to speculate where the split will happen, but this creates a healthy competition, buy new with warranty and approximately 26-27MPG (preliminary specs) combined or buy used. Practicality wise, LC 250 is a win win, heavy duty wise - it's not LC200.

There is no question that LC250 is not replacement for LC200, but if Toyota ever brought previous model "Land Cruiser Prado" to US which is what Lexus GX 460 is based on, I think a lot of people would opt out to buy it, less Lexus luxury and runs on regular gas. There is high demand for used LC200 because it's more affordable, but unfortunately after Covid 19 prices have not been down to earth, so I think Toyota will sweep up a lot those buyers with the new offering.

Here is Land Cruise Prado I recently saw while in Europe, pretty cool light duty truck, I'm sure they do well in places where not everyone can afford LC200 brand new. Side view is almost identical to GX 460.

For me and possibly a lot of other buyers, I don't mind waiting for prices to come down a little bit on LC200s and now there is less compromising I'm willing to do on used LC condition. As soon as LC250 becomes available I'm planning to go for a test drive.

Value prop is going to be very interesting with the new LC, $60K gets you a brand new LC with 0 miles or in today's market you barely get into a 2016 facelift with 50K miles at that price. Our microcosm and BaT may be unphased as they are going to want the last true LC with a V8 (and I get the vibe that very few on here are truly budget oriented). Economics suggest buyer pool should be dwindling, how many people can shell out $40K cash for a 2013 with 100K miles (since financing 10 year old car may be impossible or a very high rate) compared to a Toyota new car financing rate on a brand new car? Most of the 200 buyers will be existing 100/200 owners looking to upgrade to lower mileage / newer model year, so the older versions will keep falling while heritage editions stay fairly stable (except high mileage ones).

The super clean BaT listings will keep their value, but anything hitting 100K miles is going to drop. The drop from COVID pricing still is not finished, and I do not think we have seen the release of the new LC250 truly influence the market, but I think sellers should expect to have to be very patient.

My two cases studies, of which both were great values / prices and did not sell for weeks/months (and then got / will get a huge bump on BaT).

I am in a tight spot with the intro of the Prado into US (Sorry, it is not a land cruiser). I made an offer for a brand new 23 Armada SV 4x4 yesterday for 52K out the door, waiting to hear from the dear (Dealer added $1999 fees, which I rejected: $499 for Nitrogen!) . With this prado, and better gas mileage along with my existing LC 100, I really don't need a bigger SUV, but I love the V8. IF the Prado gets as stated above 25ish on highway, that's an awesome number knowing the gas prices always increase with time. I saw a guy on the forum selling his 14 LC 200 with almost 200K miles for $55. which made me to laugh. Additioanlly the insurance will be much cheaper if the vehicle comes with electronic brake etc., most LC's below (I suppose) 2021 does not come with electronic brake assist function, hope prado does.

Funny because if I were in the market for a new vehicle right now, I think the Armada would be at the top of my list. I wouldn’t even consider GM or Ford.

From the user guide of my 2018 LC:

Pre-collision Brake Assist was part of the 2016+ STAR system (quotes from the link):

Toyota Safety Sense-P with Pre-Collision System, Frontal Collision Avoidance and Pedestrian Protection

Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) balances braking forces between the front and rear brakes, and Brake Assist (BA) provides auxiliary force to assist the driver during emergency braking.

Thanks for sharing. Pretty good price, especially if clean / rust free and has the Luxury package with pre-collision. Most have it, but not all.
I had to negotiate for that price. They started at $47k and we went back and forth for 8 weeks before the purchase. It is a fairly clean rig. I watched prices and availability for several months and this was the best deal within 1,000 miles of me. I do not think I have pre-collision braking, pretty sure it does have pre-collision warning. I had also considered a 2016 LX570 w/ similar miles at Ken Garff Ford in American Fork UT which is reasonably priced at $56k but could not justify the extra $12-14k plus transporting it too me for the moderate upgrades between 15-16 models, especially because I will be spending money on wheels/tires, sliders and other mods.

I would love to know what other folks have paid recently.

I have been driving a Prado (2010 GX460) for the past 4.5 years and I love it. I was holding out for the GX550 (which to me looks far superior to the LC250) but I (my wife demands haha) need the third row and theGX550 Overtrail trim does not have the 3rd row (nor does the LC250). You could always go w/ a 2023 LX600 for $100K (joking) to get the true LC300 experience. Good luck negotiating w/ dealer on the Armada, I hope you get it for what you want to pay.

^^ Dealer wants $1999 still, imagine $499 for Nitrogen when atmosphetic air contains 78% Nitrogen, so $499 for remaining 22% Nitrogen. It is been speculated the newer 24 Armada will be V6 twin turbo, so I got 5 more months to purchase a V8 armada. My 15 year old also going to start driving, therefore the Armada is solid and strong compared to the prado. The LC 200 in AR with just 9K miles is too steep for my budget.

I would honestly walk away from that dealer, just on principle. There are hundreds of dealers across the US, and I bet you can get a better price even with shipping it to you included. I know the Armada is technically a "patrol" but the enthusiast base is not like the LC, so you will not see clamoring to the get the last year V8 like the HE 200s and final years.

Armada lacks nearly everything suspension wise that goes into a Patrol - KDSS, lockers, etc.

I did not understand how far these are from an actual "Patrol" then. I always though the Patrols were pretty dang reliable, so super reliable plus V8 would be tempting since I do not need KDSS or lockers, just dependability. But my wife's Versa and BIL's Versa have soured me on the brand for sure.

Having spent time in UAE and ridden in Patrols I was also interested in the American version of the Patrol here in the US. The Armada ended up not meeting most of the things the Patrol had or were important to me. Plus aftermarket support for the Armada is nearly non-existent. I'd honestly recommend the Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban over the Armada.

Only a few things that are missing from a patrol to Armada is KDSS, rear locker, 4 caliper pistons as far as I know. Rest is the same. Versa and sentra are junk as those are not made in Japan and got CVT trans/FWD. Armada is 100% made in Japan and got traditional 7 speed trans/RWD. Scotty says Nissans RWD trans are bullet proof. Also I never seen a junked current gen armadas. When I spoke to few owners who had 200K miles or more, they say no repairs, just regular maintenance. Oh no, for Yukon, Tahoe etc. They got ton of issues including electronic modules.

I posted this the other day….for comparison since I just picked up 2014 LC in Atlanta couple weeks ago. 160k, Southern owned, zero rust, 2 owners, no accidents, really good consistent maintenance records, interior and exterior are about as clean as it gets. No dings/dents/rock chips. PPE front hood and bumper, radiator has been replaced to new style, blizzard pearl for 37k…40k OTD. I replaced tires and all tpms and did the OEM spacer lift and tinted front windows.

It’s not terrible IMO but I’d try to get at or below $35k. That appears to be more “fair market” at least in my zip code. Looks clean and well maintained tho! How’s the under carriage?
I haven’t seen it in person yet to get a look at the frame.
