The owner has been driving his FJ60 every day for the last 2 weeks. All is well.

FedEx is dropping the 4Plus goodies today so I had him drop the truck off.

First things first….hood liner and a new “jar”

Next, I yanked the bumpers off and spent the last couple of hours doing the devils work….cutting out the rivets that hood the bumper brackets and crossmember.

Awful job.

Man. Forgot that 8 more rivets had to come off the frame.

Man. These things are murder. Simply murder.

What is your rivet process? I have zero issue with a good air hammer with a chisel bit then a punch bit.

About 30 seconds a rivet

I have a monster air chisel and sharpen my chisel each pass.

Then I use the same long stroke chisel with a punch to drive them out.

Then the punch deforms them and won’t ouch them out then I grind and beat and then I get the plasma out which produces slag that is a bigger mess.

Total bitch. I’ve never ever gotten one off in less than 5 minutes.

Well damn. I will say the older rivets are definitely more of a pain in the ass than the newer rigs.

Lokar 36” cable hooked to the hand throttle tab on the 60 pedal

I use LCWizard's cross cut trick, but use a die grinder with a diamond wheel - it tends to be easier to get into places than a full size grinder.
