Indiana University Cyclotron Facility

That has genius written all over it. Where do you wheel up there? You should come down and wheel with us Bluegrass guys some time.

So I took some better pictures of Moonshine in the parking lot here at work. She's looking pretty good I think!!

looks good man. post up some pics of this antenna mod. I would like to move mine.

Clint

Installed the antenna today and I'll post up a few pics tomorrow when it's wired up, then ask Kevin if he gonna write up the install instructions, or if he wants me to. It's stupid easy to install and looks great!!!

Master cylinder also showed up today, so that'll go on in the next few days. We're going on a shakedown run this weekend so I'm gonna try to get everything set up before then.

That sucker's big! You have no idea the level of jealousy I have.....

Thanks man! I've been dreaming of having a SOA 60 since my first rig back in 05. I'm a very happy camper :grinpimp:

Lookin good man! Really like that bumper design. Keep the pics coming!

I love the bumper too! Hopefully it doesn't take a long time to ship.

Here are a couple of pics of the antenna. We didn't wire it up tonight, but I wanted to show some exterior pics of Kevin's antenna. It's awesome! At speed, I was worried it would whip around a bunch, but the spring Kevin chose is, of course, perfect. At speed, the antenna leans back and basically stays still! The 4' model will provide excellent reception as well.

Enough talking, for this post anyway.

In other news, I installed the new MC today. It's a 1" bore model from a 1990 V6 SR5 pickup that I ordered from a website that Spike Strip found. I took off the old one ( 4 bolts ) and put the new one on after bench bleeding it with the pictured bench bleeder I found / modified in Kenny's garage. It's a union and hardlines from the front drum of a 40. Worked perfectly! The MC has good and firm pedal feel with the stock calipers.

By the way, all these pics are taken with my iPhone. The new 3.0 firmware included an image stabilization API I guess, so the pictures look a ton better. Enjoy!

Last night, kenny and I worked on the drawers for his 80 and clearanced my tranny crossmember for my front driveshaft. A little welding, cutting and more welding later, this is what I came out with. Not very pretty, but strong as hell.

I don't think I've seen anyone do it this way before. We welded the c-channel to the bottom of the crossmember, cut down to the bottom layer of metal in the crossmember, pounded it flat, welded in some steel to fill the gaps in the crossmember sides and then welded everything back to the c-channel. Should do the trick!

Installed the cb tonight. Wired up a fuse block under the dash that's powered on by the ignition via a relay, thanks to Kenny and David! Bolted the cb under the dash to one of the dash support brackets for a really slick covert install. The mic comes out under the dash, but I might drill a hole in the bottom of the dash to bring out of instead for a little more length in the cord. I figure out if I wanna do that this weekend on the trial run. Couldn't tune it because we didn't have a spare cable, so I'll do that tomorrow as well. Pics tomorrow because I can't post them from my iPhone.

I like the looks of this. Antenna is a bit tall but I could live with it. My only concern is the fact that we usually wheel in the forest and the antenna is one of the first things to go bye bye when encountering a tree.

While you are there wire in a cheepo speaker in the dash. Makes a big difference trying to hear the CB when it is noisy outside.

When does the body work start? :p

I agree with you entirely, but I have answers as well.

The antenna: If it's too long, then just order a 2' or 3' antenna instead of a 4' model, same exact installation. Entirely up to personal preference.

As for trees and whatnot, the antenna can bend over past 90*, so I don't see it breaking off, unless you encounter a really strong branch in the first 6-8" or so. That theory will be tested Sunday when I go wheeling, and I'll make sure to report back.

I thought about installing a speaker, but I didn't have one, so one didn't get installed. It'll be wicked easy to get to the mounting location though. Take out the glovebox to get to the speaker hole, take out the gauge cluster to get to the CB. Piece of cake.

Body work? You think it needs work? I'm going to do some at CMCC next week, so that will dictate what needs to happen afterwards :hillbilly: I can tell you for sure that the rockers and quarters are coming off, and the front fenders are getting cut up front, I just don't know exactly where and how I'm going to do that yet.

On another note, got the front driveshaft installed and the tires mounted on their new rims. I think it looks GREAT and they don't need spacers for the tires to clear the TRE's. I'm pretty pumped :bounce: Pics later tonight, BBQ now:cool:

Pics. First how the antenna leans back at 55mph. It does not whip around, just kinda sits there.

Next, the Harbor Freight tire machine we used, beads in the tire and then pics of the rig with the black rims and headlight guards.

Updated to-do list.

  • Alignment
  • New e-brake actuator cables
  • Shocks
  • Trailer SOA
  • Trailer paint
  • Steering Stabilizer
  • Sliders
  • Skidplate

Realistically, sliders and skidplate won't happen. I can't ship e-brake cables quick enough either. Oh well.
