I'm headed up to the shop in the morning so I'll run this by Roger...
I know we were possibly thinking of heading further west next summer, since we did Cruise Moab in '09, but this is def looking like a helluva good trip. Course, we could make a longer trip out of it and hit some of the Colorado and or Cali trails. We'll have about 10 days to discuss while we're in Alaska.
We have no interest in doing Cruise Moab again...
As to the trailer, its been sandblasted, primed and painted in the last couple weeks, in prep for the Alaska trip in a few weeks. If we decide to do this trip, there are some options, since Roger and I now both have Expo rigs. Do you guys have anyone in the Club that's an OTR Big Rig Driver?

I wouldn't mind catching some other trails in the area (colorado, cali trails)..
Mark, I think it would take 5 days to get from memphis to moab on the tat. I will wait and see how my vacations fall for next year since I have not bid for 2011 vacations yet.
If everybody wants to truck their vehicles (sounds like the guys with 40s), you could call those vehicle transport groups that move ebay cars around. Get the whole truck for cheaper than if you were going to ship it yourself. I got an estimate last year to ship my cruiser from memphis to LA and it was 600ish. I would also think Rob's partner, being an auto dealer would have some good contacts.

I was guessing the TAT was something like the Trans America Train. Ship the rigs out and ride the train straight through to meet them. Probably a long shot??

I was talking to someone i know about hauling our junk out there. he said it would be cheaper to get some duallies and haul it ourselves.
The way i understood it, The truck driver would need a load out to Moab (our trucks) but need a load to come right back to cover his ride back.Chances are we would not find a driver who would want to spend a week in Moab to bring us back.
Then when he would come back to Moab to pick us up he would need a load to or around Moab and then have our trucks to cover his expenses and time to ride back.
Otherwise we would have to pay for essentially 2 round trips to Moab.

Lash ride out in style in the 200. You could do MOAB in it. Then get to use the crawl feature.
What a sweet first off road trip in that sweet ass ride.
Put a part time kit on the 80 so you don't eat up those pretty longfields and expo that bitch.....
All I need is diesel and I only have to stop about 4 times and I will be there.
I will pull a GT for this trip....

Wow, 1717 miles one way for me. So 3434 miles total, at $3/gallon, thats about $1084 just for gas!
Amtrak - Jackson, MS to Green River, UT: $304 Round Trip

1450 miles / 14.5 MPG = 100 gallons X $2.80 per gallon = $280
Well, its something to think about.

Since I am not familiar with everybody's background, I was wondering if there is an EMT in our group? Some other questions: How remote are some of the trails in Moab? What kind of hospital does Moab have? How long, distance wise, would the overnight trips be? If we do not have an EMT in the group who has a good First Aid Kit? Does CLC as a group have a top notch first aid kit? If not, could we get one? I will be happy to make a donation towards it.
Of course we have a whole year to figure all this out. I am just stuck in a hotel in Calgary with time on my hands.

I have patched everything up from gun shot wounds (Iraq) to car accident victims (I-240)...went through a trauma medicine course before my journey to Iraq (not an EMT though). I have a fully loaded out medical kit in my left rear drawer...complete with IV's...and everything else. The only thing I am missing...that I want to get...is an automated external defibrillator (AED)...but, they are around $1,500 and well you know where my last $1,500 went...
