OK, I made it a goal to get to Moab in 2010 but that does not look like it is going to happen. Talk around the Crawfish Table last weekend was that there is a good bit of interest in the trip.

So, here are my thoughts on it.....

I would like to go out and take 4-5 days to run trails.

Drive out over a weekend, take a week to wheel and sight-see, and then a weekend to drive home.

That said, I will need to do it over a school holiday or go without my family. I would rather take my family.

I have no desire to go during Cruise Moab due to personal reasons, but it is a well run event if anyone wants to try for that. I can go then, but can't take as much time and the family can't go.

So, that leaves a June-July window or Spring Break. Weather is very, very sketchy on March in Moab so I think June would be the best bet.

That also gives us all time to recoup after the Roundup if some of us decide to go to Texas. At this time, I would like to do K2 and Moab.

Mid-June?

I want to do this trip in the worst way.

If we do a June trip there is no way I can do razorback also.
If the economy doesnt get better, I probably will not be able to do K2 & Moab in the same year.

Lets get the conversation moving on this.

I would rather sacrifice a trip to Superlift than Katemcy. I agree with you though, I am future planning that the economy will be better for me then.

The way I see it....sacrifice Razorback first and Katemcy second. 3 months to recover after the Roundup. Get our Superlift on again in October at the Crawl......

I would definatley have some interest in going if my cruiser could go as set up. I may be able to make some small mods here and there but if lift, tires, etc would work then I would take them time off and try to go.

Any ideas on the expense we would need to plan for? I can start putting back now if we have a year to plan.

Camping is great in Moab. Some is in campgrounds, some is on BLM land. Both are inexpensive. I would lean toward a campground so we have access to showers. The one they used to do for Cruise Moab was/is a great shady spot. During Cruise Moab the cottonwoods are losing their cotton and it is terrible. In June it would be great.

If my kids go, we would probably do a hotel so we would have a pool for them to frolic.

A stock 80 can go most places in Moab....one like yours anywhere. The year I took my 80 I went on 90% of the hard trails with 33's and one rear locker....

Also, if we get a large enough group we can split up some says and do different trails for different type vehicles.

DITTO.
I was in that part of the country a few years ago in june/july the weather was great. Would love to go I'm sure I can fix the junk by then.

Rigs - what Nolen said. No need for a bunch of lift or big tires in Moab. Stock-ish rigs will do quite well there. After a day or so wheelin my 40 I was wishing I had my 80 instead.

I'd like to do this trip as well, especially if we can work in some overnight outings into the back country. Time off will be the issue for me. I, too, have no desire to go during Cruise Moab and would perfer late June - possibly including the week before July 4th to work in that weekend and extend the holiday. For me the trip wpild be about 1300 miles one way, more like 1450 from the Jackson area. That means at least four days on the road (2 each way) for most folks. Using the holiday to stretch the week into 11 days would make the trip much more enjoyable for me. Might even be able to take our time coming and going and find some neat spots to camp along the way....

I don't think I could skip the Ramble. I would hate to miss the Roundup but the weather has been bad 2 out of the last 3 years in March. I wish they would move that event a few weeks so that the weather would be a little more predictable. I'm not sure I'll go next year Moab trip or not.

Whatever the consensus turns out to be on timing, this should a great trip for the CLC bunch!

Having done CM, I'm on the same page.. no thanks. I'd like to do this trip next year. I'd have to sacrifice K2 to do it.

An overland trip for a few nights out of Moab would be fun. Maybe do an out and back on the Kokopelli.

Mark and I were headed there this year
but plans got derailed. I would be interested.
An overland night trip would be awesome. I
might stay a little longer on the front or back end
and go some other places while already out there.
June would work great since I can not get vacation in July.

I will do everything I can to make it.

Ditto.

This sounds so sweet. Moab with friends in 13 months. I just love the thought.

I had plans to go to Moab with a friend in Vegas who grew up that way but she is getting deployed in June.

I would be down for it, we have ample time to plan it.

Count us in. For sure no K2 or Razorback if this happens. What kinda temps are we looking at, at the end of June?

I don't want to hijack your trip but would ya'll mind if a messican tagged along?
Been wanting to do this trip for the longest. For me it would depend if I got all the friggin work done to my truck before that long of a road trip. H55F, 2F rebuild and a lot of interior odds and ends. If I'm not dead broke after all that I'd love to travel with ya'll.

I'm in.
This will be my week long trip of the calendar year. So no K2 or Ramble or anything that takes 3+ vacation days.... but this it the type trip that spells memories.

I like the idea of an overnight trail and head back to town for a hotel evening stay for grub and bed rest one night then do an overnight trail again... Expedition style.

Can you make Jackson to Moab in 2 days with a caravan of trailers?
