That's the same thing that Deryl said. I am just not a fan of those tube fenders. I guess if I beat these to hell and back I may decide to do that but for now I will stick with my mismatched set. :D

Nice thread Mike looking good, laughing my way down the thread you guys sure know Orange makes me smile :hillbilly: I can't wait to get started on mine so close with a shop full of parts to put on but so far from getting it home. Until then I'll live through you all :cheers: the 80 makes a nice backup.

dang, that yellow is such a cool color

plus, it matches the seats :flamingo:

Well, I had an epiphany the other day........ I am too damn lazy to actually do everything I WANT to do. :lol: So, to that end, I am going back to painting the metal parts of the rig yellow to match the rest. I am going to re-bondo the hood (for a better, smoother job) and then have a friend who owns a body shop spray the hood, aprons and grill. I am keeping the fenders black.

:hhmm::confused:Bang Bangs Bumble Bee:lol:

Finally got the 40 to the welder this afternoon. He sent me this pic about 2 hours later.....

Takes him a while to get you in there (he is super busy) but when he gets you in, he doesn't play around. It's just tacked up in the front right now. He was a bit concerned about the bends in the original hoop behind the driver / passenger seats and the hoop I picked up from Larry. They did not match and JD is a perfectionist (maybe that's why it takes soooooo long to get in his shop) so he said he is going to "fix it". I can't wait to see what he comes up with. He is also re-designing my rear bumper with a swing-out and integrated hitch along with some other work. :D

Well, JD, my master welding guru, didn't like the way it looked in the previous picture due to the different radius bends in the two hoops.

In this old picture of Eric's rig, you can see what the two hoops looked like together. I wound up with the rear-most hoop from Eric (thanks Eric :cheers: ).

So, this is what JD came up with.....

It's a little different but I like it. I am going to see it in person tomorrow morning and we will work out the final details.

Mike does JD have a tube bender? Looks like the back bar is new and home made.

Yes he does. He builds custom cages for lots of folks. I haven't gotten to talk to him, just traded some text messages but I do believe he fabbed that bar and cut the hoop I brought him in half to make the two rear pieces.

I like the improvement though I question when the rear seat is up will the occupants be outside of the cage because it tilts forward? Most of the family cages seem to go back a little farther towards the back corners. Maybe its just the pic but check it out when you get there. I like the kickout he added in the back wish he was closer I'd send him some work not that he needs it :)

I had the same concern about the rear passengers. That pic plays tricks on you. I can tell you that it is a great fit and I like the fact that it is custom. He builds cages for all manner of 4X4 so he knows how to make it happen. I was stoked when I left his house this morning. :clap:
