Good to see things are going well!!

Outstanding start to your adventure!
Now that the truck has been flogged through the mountains, what kind of EGT & oil temps was it hitting?

Here is an overlay where you can begin to see the significance of the powertrain change:

And here we zoom in on the high range gear sets only to see the on road performance:

There you have it. It has enough torque to pickup the front inside tire when i floor it and turn in first now :)

unbeleivably impressive my friend!! I CANNOT WAIT to behold this thing in person and hit some trails with ya again soon! This thread you put together is also super top-notch; i have to reload each page twice and wait for things to load undisturbed in order to see all the pictures - but HOT DAMN is it worth it - thoroughly reading this is better than watching a great movie, and I barely just started page three!!

Ok, enough with the excuses. Let's do this in chronological order from Day 3 onward.

Day 4:

We left the big corn behind us and made it to another state:

It got dark right as we arrived at our KOA in the park.

It was also really cool to see. We drove the whole day through it, stopping and going on short hikes:

We hit the road again and headed to Wall Drug and ran into this guy, and about a million people from Sturgis Motorcycle rally. I hope he doesn't mind me posting this picture:

My Mom loves prairie dogs, and had never seen them in their natural environment:

We decided to take another scenic rout driving through Needles and the Black Hills:

Words can express this roadways beauty:

Thanks for the updates, glad you made it safe!
I drove cross country with my pops in ’97, vivid and lasting memories!

^^^ That truck you parked next to has yota axles underneath.

Ok,

I have a little free time so here's day #6:
We made our way south'ish to wind cave national park:
upload_2018-9-11_20-41-50.webp

Saw our first Buffalo:
upload_2018-9-11_20-42-34.webp

Saw this awesome live mammoth excavation in Hot Springs SD:
upload_2018-9-11_20-43-21.webp

Then we headed north after visiting the hot springs. Next big stop was at jewel cave national monument. My Mom is really into this cave stuff, so she made me go way down in this place:
upload_2018-9-11_20-47-50.webp

And then after a few hours in the cave, then back up top we finally hit WY:
upload_2018-9-11_20-48-57.webp

Right after this I realized my electric cooling fan bit the dust and we had to make a revision to our plan. I found a replacement in Billings, so we opted to head north rather than stay in Cody.

This is right about where I realized the fan was not going to be revived:

Mom Wanted to pick some different strain of Sage so we pulled over. The truck looks cool in the grass:
upload_2018-9-11_20-58-24.webp

We had some great steaks in Buffalo WY, and headed north to Billings MT and caught another beautiful sun set:
upload_2018-9-11_20-53-32.webp

We had to skip the mountains for the most part, fearing that if we really loaded the truck up with no fan she would overheat. The cold air of the night kept temps in the 190*F range while we were moving.

We reached MT:

Soon after we arrived in our hotel in Billings.

Day 7:
We got up bright and early and I picked up my replacement fan less than 1 mile from the Hotel (planned this out so i wouldnt have to wait for it too cool down, and we could hit the road early):
upload_2018-9-11_21-0-48.webp

Not now Chief, I'm in the F'n Zone:
upload_2018-9-11_21-1-30.webp

The new fan blew much much harder than the last one, so it's been on its way out for a long long time.
It was over 100* in Billings that day, so we were excited to head for the high country to cool off. We needed that fan on some of these climbs i expect:

We entered Yellowstone from the North-east through these beautiful mountain ranges:
