Paint matches so well, I can hardly tell where it starts. Looking great, can't wait to see it.

Finally got her back yesterday! The steering is like buttah... smooth as hell. I can imagine this is what it was like when brand spankin' new.

Line-X job is decent, but some blemishes on the transition from the rockers to the regular paint. I'm sure it'll get worse after I scrape on a rock someday.

Next steps:

Install my on board air
Install new shifter bushings and horn contact plate
Buy some damned lockers so Patrick and Nick don't leave me behind next time we wheel!!!!

FINALLY, you got it back! I can't wait to see it when ever we get together next.

I'd like to do a little steering comparison cuz mine is feeling a little blah and I'm trying to decide if its always been like that or if it's just because, lately, ive been driving a much more "performance"/"luxury" oriented car that actually knows what it's supposed to do when it comes to a corner.

Also what air system do you think you'll go with? Probably a compressor, but have you thought any about air tanks as well so that I can bum some very quick air off you???

And I can't wait to know you're choice in lockers, narrow as your selection may be...

I have a ViaAIR extreme duty compressor in my shed from my JK waiting to be installed... I had it mounted up but never ran the plumbing before the unfortunate demise of the JK

I actually called OX the other day to ask about their plans for Toyota axles - they have one coming soon for the 8" R&P, but the LC axle is 9.5" I think? I really want to go with something other than an air actuated locker - something about relying on a compressor and pneumatic plumbing just rubs me the wrong way. OX lockers are cable actuated, which means more cool shift levers in the cab...

Sweet, viair are good I believe. Extreme duty as well, I like the sound of that!

Some guys like playing with their levers, I like pushing buttons... :D

And yes our axles are 9.5", I think 8" are 80 series or some s***.

I had such great plans to change the oil, and do the shifter bushings this weekend, but all I got done was peeling the Costa Del Mar sticker off the back screen, and doing a piss poor job of peeling some of the purple tint off the back screen. This will now annoy me until I de-tint the whole damn cargo area.

Ah well... warm weather looms... lots of time to get things done!

No worries, the last thing you want to do is over-exert yourself at your age :flipoff2:
Just fxxxing with you :)

I figured you like the costa sticker, brings you back to your frat party days...
Damn another old joke. sorry :o

I wish you would post some more pictures of the truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ankur, just in case you're not aware, an easier way to pull of old window tint is to get the inside of your windows (tint side) moist with a water filled squirt bottle. Then, take some newspaper and lay it on your moist windows. Keep the newspaper moist for a long while. Do this on a sunny/ warm day. The humidity factor created will work to loosen the tint and, once removed, will soften the adhesive left behind from the tint so that a scraping with a single edge razor blade will finish the job rather easily. Hope this helps!

Nice I will try this Dan... safer than slathering the whole mess in Goo Gone...

Now all I need is a sunny warm day... ;-)

So while I was trying to replace the transfer case shift lever bushing to eliminate this annoying hissing rattling noise in 3rd gear, I saw the support bracket preventing the TC lever from going into 2-Low and bent it toward the passenger side a bit, allowing the lever to move in a full square (which is f*cking cool, BTW).

Bushing it a bitch to get out for some reason, so I patted myself on the back, left everything torn apart, and came in to eat lunch and post this...

Really horrible picture to follow shortly... :flipoff2::flipoff2:

Picture of the "mod" - looking to the right of the shift lever, the bracket that looks like an S used to be pushed over to the left, preventing lateral movement in the 2WD position. Now with the bracket bent over, I can push to passenger side and engage 2LOW. I need to make a new sticker for the knob...

So I shattered my back glass and put a huge dent into my upper liftgate on Saturday when I came down hard off a ledge and my hi-lift (mounted to my 4+ rear bumper) sheared off the lower mounting bolt and swung into my hatch and basically kicked its ass.

Got an estimate to repair the hatch alone for $300 for just the sheet metal, no paint, no glass or glass install. Got a quote for $100 for labor to install the glass (once I found it), and estimated about $100 for the glass (minimum). Don't forget taxes, shop fees, and hidden surprises.

So, decided to check cruiserparts.net, and ordered the whole assembly for $531 shipped. They said no promises if it will come assembled, but I asked them to put a note in to send it whole, so I can paint it and bolt it on myself. I was really hoping to spend that $$$ on a locker... :-(

Holy cow! Love that the sticker is holding that corner of glass together

I've helped installed a rear window before. String inside the gasket. Soapy water. Screw driver to wrap the string around the handle and two people can get the job done. By pulling the string at the correct angle it pulls the gasket over the metal lip. Once that's done you're done.

Glad you're alright :)
