Ankur,

I have no idea how I have missed this thread until now. I love the build! Hopefully GSMTR was good to you. We need to get out to the trails together soon. Our two trucks need to tailgate together this fall too. We could pioneer the Cruiser tailgating section for GT home games. I am sure there are a few others that we could get to join us.

Ankur, were trying to plan another windrock trip later this summer. GSMTR was incredible, other than the rain.

GSMTR was great, especially since I had to leave before the rain started!

Yes - massive tailgating this season. Gotta have something since I expect very little.from the Jackets offense. We usually try to snag lawn space in the area between the Civil Engineering building and the old student center and Drama Tech.

I really need to do something to this truck. My thread ratings are bottoming out. ;-)

Bambi - you wanna help me do my brakes and knuckles sometime?

Order the knuckle kit from Kurt (cruiseroutfitters.com) today and we shall get it done next week! I might even let you use your flashlight :D

front brakes or rear? Gonna get toyota oem stuff or M3 grade race parts?

edit: just go ahead and buy an ARB, aussie, or spartan while you're there, i know you want it.

Ankur,

I am more than happy to help as well. I have done the knuckles and brakes on the 80 but never a 60/62. I always enjoy some wrenching therapy. I have a box full of parts that I need to put on my truck as well (plugs/wires/coolant hoses/etc). Maybe we should do a wrenching day. Weekdays are better for me with enough notice as weekends are typically family time.

OK - I've been away a LONG time due to a bunch of shiznits going down at the ol' job-front. But things are settling down now, and I have decided to dump my DD 2008 E90 BMW M3 and just use the Java Monster as my DD from now on. ever since I got her back in 2011, I've barely driven the M3 at all anyway. So once I ditch the BMW, my first order of business will be to reupholster and/or replace the seats. Front seats are definitely going to be replaced, since they have no support whatsoever. Looking for suggestions on what to go with from those who have done this. I love Robustbambi's M3 seats in Woody, but I have to sell my M3 seats with the M3. Unfortunately. Those seats kick ass.

Ankur,

I think that you are making a wise decision...until you are wheeling (wheeling a DD takes a very different mind set). The good news is that we are close and if the JM is ever down, you can always drive my 80 as long as needed. The good news is that you will get to DD the Cruiser. I still drive mine more than I realize as grabbing the keys to the Acura or the Mercedes just isn't nearly as satisfying.

Just swap the seats with the M3 before you list it for sale and see if anyone notices :)

Seriously though, I do know of someone interested in the M3...and they may not even need the factory seats, so it really could work out.

Cheers,

Scott

So now I have two Toyotas to split modification $$$ between. Choices choices...

All I know is that I am so glad to be rid of the M3.

Love it! I am currently learning to appreciate the Toyota reliability over the German engineering.

Congrats!

The 4runner is a good choice, talked my wife into one last month. ..

I'm wondering how it'll wheel compared to the java monster. With the rear locker and crawl control, probably more capable, but limited by the ground clearance and the crappy H/T Dueler tires... Can't wait for those to wear out.

Seems like a pretty common theme for us 60 guys!

Whatever you do, DO NOT pay attention to the ECO setting and MPGs. Still have never gotten her above 20.0mpg. Still a great truck and wife loves it.

The only way I have seen 20 mpg is on a short road trip through south Carolina where the cops are bad. We have been averaging 19 with mixed use around atlanta.

Yeah that is pretty much what we get, average between 18.5 and 19.5 depending on who is driving and what type of driving (wife has a lead foot). On long, flat, straight trips I have gotten it to 20mpg but that was over a 5hr drive holding about 70mph. I was hoping it was just me but these things just aren't geared to keep the rpm below 2k at 70ish.

Well, I drive very little, so my MPGs are less of a worry. Bought last week, still only 40 miles on her. Been out of town almost every since...
