The PO had it on there as a place to grab when moving the trailer around. :meh:
FWIW that is a common way to keep the trailer's registration papers with the trailer.

My TrailBlazer's new frame was built with such a extending tongue in 1994. I don't know that the PO ever used it. I've only ever used it when moving the trailer around the yard by hand.

What is the plan for the trailer? Are you going to put all your stuff inside the bed/shell? Are you planning to sleep in it or maybe on top of it?

All the gear will go inside. I dig some of the RTT's but the price is outrageous for what we would want. We have a pretty sweet Sierra Designs 2 room family tent. For the time, the shell stays on until we decide we want something different.

I have an extra set of trailer shocks. I got them for my M416 when it was sprung over, then decided to change it to spring under and then they were too long, so they have zero miles on them. Monroe 555003. You want 'em? TUT price. :D

I really like your project! Nice work with Hitch, opps sorry Max Coupler

I will need some. I'll check the length this weekend to see if they'll work. I'll let you know.

these are

Static length: 11-3/8" to 13-1/4"

Compressed length- 9.625.

Extended length- 14.750.

The bolt holes at each end are 5/8.

Alvin, I might have a 6 lug axle at work for that, I can check it out on Monday...

Diggin' the reciever idea on the front.

Oh, sweet! I'll get measurements for what I need and let you know.

Here's what I have underneath. The shocks are pin to pin and 17" as they sit, not including pin length.

The axle is 34" between the springs.and 48 between the hubs.

Beamed to you via my tricorder

I'm thinking those won't work. I need to talk to Kurt about some springs and figure out what shocks will work with my setup or if I have to change mount points.

Fud for thought, if you loose the oem bouncy truck springs and swap with deticated trailer springs, you will loose the need for shocks as well (Ivan over at Az Spring can help with load requirements).

I spread mine out for stability, and modded the axle to fit..

Not how I'd do it at all. Traditional trailer springs don't need shocks because they're too stiff to move much. Think how you'd feel if you were riding on something like that. Now remember that your Beer is likely riding on it.

Softer springs (but not too soft, don't want to need a sway-bar) and shocks are the better way to go when going off road.

X2. I'm running FJ55 springs and some random DT shocks on my trailer setup, its proven quite effective both on and off-road. Trailer springs generally have a super high spring rate and little flex as result of their short length, thick leaves and tight clamps.

Yeah, I want to stick with springs and shocks. When I'm ready to buy, I'll get all my measurements and be on the horn with you.

Late to the game here but I'm about 99% certain what you have is a Chevy/Isuzu LUV frame there Alvin. Also the wheels that you have on it appear to be Gen I Trooper/Rodeo rims. Isuzu uses the same 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern that Toyota does so you can bolt up whatever Toy wheels you want with no issues. The axle should be a Isuzu Corp. 10 bolt, and as far as lift springs go you should be able to use any lift spring designed for a Gen I Trooper/Rodeo/Pup ('86-91 for Trooper, 91-97 for Rodeo, and 87-94 for Pup). I do know that OME makes a lift spring for these trucks...other than that you're looking at add a leafs or adapting Mini springs to work

Good info TJ. I will probably adapt Mini springs to it. Money dictates that it will be a slow process for now.
