So I have been hashing out the details and now they are ready. For those looking to get into an "overland" style trailer, I may have your solution.
For those home builder types, I am offering M416/M100 Bantam style trailer bed kits in both mild 12ga and 10ga steel as well as 12ga 3003 aluminum. These are 5 piece kits, 4 side panels and a floor panel. All side panels have a 1"x 1.25 lip with mating corners at 45° for ease of building/mating.
This kits allows one to pick out fenders of choice, build frame of choice, wheel base, suspension ect. I can even easily modify these dimensions to replace an entire truck bed from a Mini/Tacoma to a full size diesel or gasser. Allows for many different options.
I will offer these in a welded platform as well if wanted. Mild steel will run $225 and the aluminum $425 to weld. Welding in the floor panel will eat up time. The five pieces can also be shipped. Weight varies on sheet metal gauge. The aluminium kits weigh 75lbs but have yet to weigh the steel. I can also have latched door panels made of your own design that can be integrated into your build. Trailer lid kits too.
Cost for these are $750 for 12ga steel, $950 for 10ga steel and $1050 for the aluminum. These are made to order and usually about 2 days turn around. I am located in Houston.
Feel free to share and or contact me for further info. Pics are of aluminum kits. Dimensions are: Floor 41"x72" Top width 49" Height 18".

Thanks Ryan for the post. Guppy, no plans for the frame for the do it yourselfers. Trying to keep this as simple as possible as some folks may want a different frame. Also applies to the fenders. Lid plans are in the works and hopefully will have the finalized drawings this week. I should have an Aluminum bed, welded, going out next week by the looks of things. And a steel one to follow.
Keep in mind that for those that want to replace a truck bed, I can modify these drawings to fit you needs. I am loacted in Houston. Feel free to reach out to me if interested.

I think you're on to something here - I hope this takes off for you. Great idea.....

Lids now availble. Lids will have the formed edge internal to the lid and mate to the trailer edge lip. 12ga steel $925, 10ga steel $890 and 10ga aluminum $1048. Not welded.

I'm interested in a lid for my 1969 M416. Post some pictures when you complete one. Does it have an internal frame that could support a RTT if I add some brackets?

Yes supports will be included.

Bed kits welded, 10ga steel $1175, 12ga steel $975, aluminum $1450

Bed kits welded 10ga steel $1115
12ga steel $1150 12ga aluminum $1250

Shipping will be quoted based on shipping address. Fastenal appears to be one of the lower rates.

It would fit but not correctly. If you removed you current bed and provided dimensions, length and width, one can be made fit and the same shape of the m416 style.

For those watching this thread. An aluminum bed is being welded up. Pics to follow

Yeah, I plan on ditching the current flat bed deck.

Got the dimensions with out the flat bed. It's 45 1/2 inches wide from outside the frame and 8ft long from outside the frame. Is that about the same? Or would it be customized ?

I'm interested as well. I have a '65 M416-B1 with a tailgate cut into it. How much shipping will be to Fallbrook, CA. 92028? How soon will you have the lids for showing? Do you do custom work on these lids? Thanks in advance.

Has ANYONE heard anything else from these folks? I'm still waiting to hear if they would make a lid for my trailer. As per the post, they were going to start making lids for these trailers. I'm just wondering if they are still active. Any update would help. Thanks!

I have responded to all that have contacted me. I have asked to be PM'd as Mud with its excessive adverts drives me away from using it. Once contacted, we can discuss needs or options via a different form of communication.
