Progress is slow but steady. I have everything painted. Found out it was two stage paint and had to clear coat it.
Worked on head liner. Found out it sticks in place and has no wiggle room. I got some wrinkles in the back section, and the front was not too bad. My hat is off to those who do this for a living. Took almost 3 cans of glue.
I used a troopy headliner and cut it down. City Racer provided the hatch weatherstrip.

I had it on last year at SAS. I really did not feel it was a lot of weight but then again, I was not doing anything real hard. I took it off for Fall Crawl here in VA due to all the trees. I was afraid of damage. I also wanted to switch out the rear header for the lift gate one. This lead to me seeing how much rust was in the rain gutter and wanting to replace that too. I had thought about getting a soft top, but the $$$ scared me away. Although the cases of Duplicolor are adding up fast as well at the gasket for the rain gutter. I had the head liner left over from my 74 stretch project I sold.
When I added the add-a-leaf to the rear to raise it a little, it made it stiffer. I am hoping the weight of the hard top off sets that some.
I also just like the look of the Toyota hard top over the soft tops. I would have gone for a FJ43 fiberglass top from South America, if I had found one. I also like the two tone top and body combo.

I hope to get a good push this weekend but have to move a few loads of firewood out of my neighbors yard from the few trees he took down. I plan to have this on the trailer no later than the 29th to head to SAS. I leave on the 30th. 12 days, tic tok tic tok.
Looks amazing! We’re particularly loving the license plate. Lawd let us make it back home (Pittsylvania) someday.

Yes, but you can lock these up with a twist of the knob.
