Read the press release; check out the configurator and specs on the Lexus website; and test drive the current model lx600. That’ll bring your answer.

After getting the allocation I read through everything now available on the Lexus website, compared what specs they do have, but much like for the GX OT, it's a lot of frilly marketing filler, especially when it comes to off-roading. Info from this thread, people digging into the real tech specs, and aftermarket vendors chiming in about real off-road potential are much appreciated and why Mud is so valuable and special.

I wasn't sure how different the 600 and the 700 will be, so avoided test driving the 600 to this point. Unfortunately, I don't think anybody else has that answer yet either. All the videos I could find are static sitting on display. I got my GX a few months after the first allocations showed up, but at least there were videos of people test driving them about a month before they were scheduled to hit the US, comparing old vs. new, etc. Did see that yet, and hoping to see that sooner than later, but please let me know if I'm wrong.

I was able to spend some time in the GX550 8-9 months before they landed at dealers. I'm hoping the same for the LX700h OT but zero guarantees. Fwiw the first drive (NPP) of the 6th Gen 4Runner is in January, first debut was many months ago. This is typical product launch cycle imo. I'm lobbying for a LX700h OT. We'll see.

I am going to drive a 700 OT before deciding to get rid of my 24 Onyx black Fsport.

On my Ford trucks I think a limited slip would be better than the Elocker for my use.

I kinda like the basic gauge cluster on the 600 too.

At this moment I plan to hang onto whichever LX I keep long term.

*Stepping in and taking a seat at the LX700h chat table

Greetings, looking forward to the LX700h as well here and have been doing quite a lot of research. Sadly, to the MUD crowd, this will primarily be the Wifey’s rig, so no OT edition for us this time, but rather the F-Sport with that sexy black grille (that will match our LC500 - the greatest GT car ever built :p).

I learned of the 700h months ago after some investigative internet research and went to the dealer asking to be put on “the list”. They had no knowledge what-so-ever of such a model yet, so I just waved my hand in front of them like David Copperfield, and told them “you will!”. :p

Last year I had a new LX600 offered to us. After a test drive, I walked away with some feelings. First, while it was “okay” in power and acceleration compared to our 200 series, it didn’t “$107k-wow-me”. Power was ample, but not spectacular. Secondly, the two-screen interior bothered me. Even more so after I test drove a Sequoia later that day. Personally, felt the interior and dash layout of the Sequoia was much better placed. And after that test drive in the Sequoia with the hybrid system, I most certainly left there with that “wow” factor after a few highway pulls. There it was, that’s what the LX600 needed I thought, a hybrid system, even if those glorious engine noises were indeed pumped in the cabin via the audio system, ha!

Excited to potentially get our mits on one if it can happen. Let’s hope dealers are done playing the Covid-shuffle asking for more than msrp (like one of the local Toyota dealers here is still doing), because I’m not keen on those practices and it provokes a lot of grumpy thoughts from me.

Interesting to see the only option now is the Mark Levinson, AHC is standard now where they were an option on the 600. The Levinson system in our LC500 is amazing, so I most certainly will check that box. Wish there was a tan interior option on a white F-sport, but my wife seems to be okay with race-car look of the red & black interior, so that’s that. Sad to see the back tailgate glass doesn’t open and the tailgate is full-size compared to the handy 200 series tailgate, but likely things we can live with I suppose.

Cheers.

I thought this was an interesting graphic on how AHC adjusts at different speeds:

Fun time hanging with the big boys in Moab last week. First time we took the LX600 offroad and on the rocks. Did part of Hells Revenge and I was really impressed. Running 35" tires and a Dobinson 3" lift it did really well. Front bumper performed really well. We have some small changes to make going into production. Never touched the skids, barely touched a slider, but as expected drug the back bumper quite a bit but better than a 200 rear.

Very impressed with the CRAWL and DAC. Climbed pretty steep climbs unassisted and with no noise. That is the most impressive thing. Previous generations of CRAWL made such a racket that it felt like abuse to use it.

Overall happy with the performance of the LX600. LX700h on the shopping list.

Christo, the OEM front bumper I find so offensive I was not even willing to look at the LX600. But this picture shows exactly what I was looking for. I really look forward to this bumper being offered for sale.

That's wild that we're just now getting to the first drives on the 4rnr.

For timing I would hope we would have the media drives soon (if not already) for the LX7.

My dealer expects mine to show up late Jan to mid-Feb.

If this video is reliable it looks like the load floor of the 2 row 700H won’t be all that bad. I’ve no desire for a 3 row anything so for those like me this is a welcome sight to see.

Not trying to discuss efficiency or power, but that engine start sound was as boring and unexciting as using the house mixer to prepare a smoothie. Especially when I get to engine-start my 200 V8 every day.

Funny, I actually thought it didn't sound too bad. 🤷‍♂️ :p

No V6 has ever sounded good to me. None - ever. I prefer driving V8s for the sound/theatrics and linear power band (not to mention reliability). Even over very high-torque and high-power V6s like the Ecoboost (e.g., appliance engines).

I'm generally not a fan of TFL but glad to finally see some LX content.

I may or may not be starved for LX7 content. I don't have a problem, you have a problem. :)

Agree TFL is mediocre. Otherwise just a few nice shots of the new 700. Seems the front grill is placed well in front of the radiator (as can be seen when the hood is open and when he points out the recovery (tow... ) hooks) leaving some options open so it seems to cut back that overhang.

I like this Engineer from Austraaaliaaa. He often says a lot of controversial things yet he aint stupid. He is independent so he says what he thinks of it. Sharing this one, yet he has many others with various subjects I find entertaining. If you do not like I get it, no feelings hurt.

This is good to see: GVWR is 3380kg or 7450#.

So if the curb weight is right at 6000# we're looking at a payload of 1,450!

I think my 600 sounds pretty good, I like it a little more than my fan roaring 5.7 Tundra I had. The 600 just sounds a little more commanding to me.

I have also had the Ford V6 ecoboosts in different f150s. Their 3.5eco sounds like crap compared to the 2.7eco. Also had a bunch of different V8s, like some GM V8s and even the Tundra 5.7 do not sound as commanding as my 600 🤷🏼‍♂️.

I think they tuned these spot on for sound quality and I have been very critical of this SUV. Don’t knock it just because its a V6, they did a good job here in my opinion.

Official curb weight, on Lexus' website, is 5,945 lbs, which provides a payload of 1,505 lbs.

Toyota finally updated its website with the 250's accurate curb weight. The 1958's payload, for comparison, is 1,365 lbs.

He mentions payload in the video, at 17:26 - here's a screen shot. 1,190 lbs and then deducted another 10 lbs with the yellow sticker.

We went through this when the 250 was released too. Nobody has been able to clearly or reliably explain how the "Tire and Loading Information" load rating is calculated, or why it's several hundred pounds different than the conventional way of calculating payload.

I recall that @cruiseroutfit did make an inquiry with several people who would know (thank you, again); those people reported, if I recall, that it involved a complicated and inconsistent mix of factors.

That leaves us (or me, at least) with the conventional (longstanding) payload calculation, which is as follows:

Payload = (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) - (Curb Weight)

700h OT: 1,505 lbs
250 1958: 1,365 lbs
