The GX tank is too small at 21 gallons. Heck, I might as well have gotten an EV with this range....or maybe that is what Toyota wanted you to do! LOL

Strange how the GX550 OT can tow 1000lbs more and have a larger fuel tank than the LX700H.
I think the tow rating is mostly an illusion on both because of the fuel tank size. At ~7mpg towing 9k lbs, you'd have under 100 miles of towing range. It might be good for moving a boat locally or something. For something like a travel trailer though - it probaly doesn't matter if it's 8k or 10k - it won't tow either one far enough to matter.

I agree but range doesn't seem any different from previous generations at least in the US. I am averaging 9mpg on my 100 with 34's and 14mpg on my 200 with stock tires, appx 50% city/highway. I expect the range to be much the same in the 700H. Not making excuses, we would all love an aux tank.

Having said that, the tow rating makes a big difference for me. It's a 10k GVWR dump trailer that weighs appx 3k empty. AHC for this sort of trailer is ideal as it actively adjusts the rear end to make the towing experience better. Im sure there is an engineered buffer for the tow rating but it's awful hard to judge the weight in the dump trailer at times and its fairly easy to exceed the GVWR of the trailer unknowingly.

Yep, thanks for stepping in. I was wondering when others would point out the same as we were going in circles. Remarkable folk do not check info on the internet before they keep repeating themselves.

Funny because I have one and I am corrected thanks. Too busy at work and brain slipping

No worries. Perhaps that means it drives real smooth which is credit to the designers. Certainly on some Houston downtown secondary roads the extra strength of solid rear axle is good thing.

I also it begs the question of the difference between "light duty" and "heavy duty" at least in the Toyota frame/running gear sense.
Neither are 79 series, in that sense.

I think the biggest range difference is towing. The efficiency towing isn't much different between hybrid or non-hybrid or between the old v8 and new engine options. So, while the 300 might get 50% more range than a 200 on the 14 useable gallons, once you add a big trailer - the range will be significanly shorter than a 200 with 20 useable gallons.

I'd be pretty comfortable for short distances with a 10k trailer. It's a very similar vehicle to the GX550. The Sequoia has essentially the same powertrain other than a heavier duty transfer case and rear axle (as does the Tundra hybrid). So, I'd guess the powertrain is fine with it. If the GX550 didn't have the same tow capacity as the Sequoia - I'd point at the rear axle as a limiting factor, but it doesn't seem to be the case. It's probably just the issue of more of the GVWR taken up by the hybrid weight and not leaving enough for the tongue weight of the 10k lb trailer.

I just wouldn't buy it for towing a travel trailer. I towed my 19 foot full profile trailer with my 5g 4R periodically - and range was a real issue. It would have probably 25% more range than the LX700 with the same trailer. Probably the only way to make it work for any full profile travel trailer is with some aux fuel supply - gas cans or maybe buy a toy hauler with a fuel tank. But TBH - who is the market for an LX that would also be roadside filling up out of jerry cans? It's a people mover with a cool spec sheet.

Do it.

Hey it's ONLY 35k more than my GXOT+ (Quietly setting aside kidney).

All joking aside, looking through the spec sheets, it is fully loaded. The only options you have are Color, Third Row Delete, and Mark Levinson. It has soft-close doors, and even the "black chrome trim" is a black oxide coat stainless steel (no plastic here). My only current worry is that we won't get the sub-tank and we'll be hamstrung with an 18gal fuel tank.

Will definitely need to Xpel that trim.

Its not too bad. Thats my daily drive and I drive around all day.

The hydraulic system has its benefits and limits.

I think front to rear is not equally sorted though. Front needs some rebound dampening.

JUST GOT MY ALLOCATION!

It's a three row, but that's the only thing I'm waffling on right now.

Looks like a solid vehicle. Nice to know there is a replacement for my 200 if something happens to it. Expensive as it is...

NIce!@ What color? Supposedly Im first n the list at my dealer. Were shall see...

Earth with Black interior.

My preferred combo would be the Earth with Stone Brown interior, but I'm debating on taking it now. My dealer's reaching out to see if he can get some light shed on how many two-rows they plan to make.

They had me at triple locked.
This is what started me down the road of getting an LX570. It will be years before I could afford a 300 series anyway.

I got an allocation as well. Think there will be any over sticker flipping potential? Mine is earth over black. Would be in February
Would never buy a near new vehicle from a private owner trying to sell it at mark up. In fact anything which smells like flipping is a “go and f yourself” reaction.

Actually would not buy a first or second model year for pricing and reliability reasons, I get some cannot help themselves and want to move now.

Thanks for everyone posting what info is out there in this thread. I got an unexpected allocation just before Christmas, so now am scrambling to find out details (still waiting on expected delivery estimate though). Last time I’d bothered to look, Lexus didn’t even have the LX700H OT on the website, so now rushing to read up on what I’ve missed. I had told myself it was OK to buy an LX OT if it ever came out in the future, but it happened a lot sooner than I imagined.

Is it just me, or does it still feel like there isn’t that much info out there yet? With the GX550 it seemed like there were test drives and such before I was in any danger of having to pay for it. Though I guess there were a lot of delays there before they really made it here in any number. Or is the 700 a close enough incremental change to the 600 that it’s not coming out with as much fanfare?

I’m just worried that after the disappointment of my GX550 I really don’t want to go into this one blind. The LX OT would have been the obvious replacement for my old triple-locked LX450, and I’d already have bought one if it had come out first. But my frustrations with the GX that did come out first really has me questioning Lexus in general at this point, so want to be more prepared to pay attention this time.

Thanks in advance for any details posted here. Mud was the main place I came to voraciously read up on new info in the long wait for the GX, and the knowledge I got here played a big part in convincing me to at least give it a shot.

Read the press release; check out the configurator and specs on the Lexus website; and test drive the current model lx600. That’ll bring your answer.

I was sold after demoing a used LX6 for a couple hours as it felt like my 200, just faster. This was a good thing.
