I've just ordered one of these cameras along with the CC3 2K. Good to know you can use the original camera. I'm wondering if anyone else has tried using the original camera cable rather than running a new one? Sounds like an easier job.
Someone can jump in and correct me but I don't believe the stock camera is 12v so the teyes camera will require a new wire. It might have actually been discussed in this thread.

Realistically running the new wire is pretty easy (1.5 hours tops), the only thing I wish I had done better is found a cleaner way of getting inside the vehicle.

I just did this. Taped 3 wires (two for the RCA and one for the trigger) and it works no problem. Obviously picture quality is off the early 2000 era but you’re nor watching a movie with that camera. Is enough to see where you’re backing up on

No I meant using the original cable with a new camera and the Teyes CC3 unit. I can't think of a reason why the old camera cable wouldn't work with a new camera. But then I haven't had a look at it yet.

I think the original camera was 6V and I don't know whether that was fed from the head unit or not. But the cable doesn't care if it is 6V or 12V. I'm talking about just using the existing cable with the Teyes at one end and the new camera at the other. You might have to add a connector or two at each end, but it would save all the effort of routing a new cable.

From the teyes site for the sony camera. Maybe this will help you out at least on their end of the wiring.

Realistically though running the wiring is not hard. If you have done any kind of low voltage wiring before and ran wires I suspect you could do it in 30 minutes.

Thanks. I'll take a look at this and figure out how they are doing it. It's an analogue circuit after all - so should be pretty straightforward. The Yellow wire is simply powering the camera when the wagon is in reverse. I've done plenty of wiring but why run a new cable when you can use the original one? Especially when you don't need the original camera any more.

I've just prepared detailed instructions on how to fit the CC3 2K head unit and an Aycetry AHD rear view camera (1920x1080) to a 2005 Lexus 470 (stock audio system - Pioneer). I intend to reuse the stock camera wiring, rather than running a new cable. The instructions have been generated using AI (Gemini) based on a rigorous search of the internet. Only problem is, I don't have the headset yet and so haven't actually done the job yet 😂. I can test it out and share once I've done the job successfully 😊.

Interested in seeing this. I tapped into my rear view camera module and if i can replace the factory camera with an aftermarket one and use the existing wires would be nice

Hi guys. I am part way through my installation of the Teyes CC3 2K into a 2005 RHD Lexus LX470 (with factory premium audio not Mark Levinson). So far, I have got the Teyes unit working with radio on factory amp and the AC controls are working (well most of them). I have used the Canbus settings: XP, Toyota, Landcruiser, LC 100 (2002-2007), HIGH. But I can't get the steering wheel controls to work at all. I have consulted my friend Gemini (:)) and he tells me that this particular LX 470 model uses analog signals for the steering wheel controls, rather than digital. Obviously, the AC is digital and is working (pretty) well. Gemini advises cutting the factory audio harness wires and connecting the analog lines from the steering wheel to the Teyes analog Key 1 and Key 2 inputs. And then to go through the process of teaching the Teyes unit the steering wheel buttons one-by-one. Has anyone had to do something similar? It seems that the ML LX470 variant uses digital steering wheel button/signals rather than analog Does this sound right? Has anybody needed to do this to get the SW buttons working? Or is Gemini smoking weed :D

Has anyone gotten the power antenna to work correctly? I have installed a "Y" in order to connect both stock antenna wires to the Teyes. The radio reception is much better; however, the antenna does not raise and the button on the dash does not work. I noticed the Teyes unit has a blue antenna wire that is not connected to anything, it just hangs out of the back of a harness. I'm betting this needs to be connected to a wire somewhere, but I have no idea where. Can anyone help?

Here is the antenna wiring diagram:

And here is the Teyes diagram: note the blue wire I am speaking of is G8.

Maybe G8 to pin 14 on the Auto Antenna Control Relay? Maybe pin 12?
I'm looking at this at the moment. After a bit of experimentation, I found that the Blue "Ant" line out of the Teyes CC3 2K (in my case) has voltage on it all the time - even when the car is completely off. So I can't see how you can use this to control the antenna. There is a switch in the Factory Settings that says "Antenna Normally On" but toggling this on and off doesn't make any difference. I don't have a rear radio, so can't use this to power on the antenna. It's always down. I'm working on a solution using a new switch on the centre console to power the antenna on and off. But surely that Blue wire must do something? I've asked Teyes technical support to see if they have any insights.

On the subject of getting the antenna to work properly with the Teyes install, I've got a bit further and I've found the mythical second radio. To activate the antenna, I press the FM or AM button on the old cassette/radio front panel (which is left in place when the Teyes is installed) and lo and behold the antenna goes up and a new radio app pops up on the Teyes screen. Only problem is - there is no audio on the new radio app. When I go back and run the normal radio app, the antenna goes down but I have sound in FM mode! What I think is happening, is that the FM/AM buttons on the old tape/radio front panel (in my case) - or turning the rear radio on (on LX 470 ML models I think) makes the car electronics send a signal to the Teyes unit to say that the radio has been selected. This signal arrives on the antenna wire of the main 20-pin Lexus/Toyota audio connector - (R37 pin 13 in my case) . This causes the Teyes unit to launch the 2nd radio app.

Problem is, the normal radio app tells the car to lower the antenna, I think using the same wire. What I have also found is that the blue Ant wire, coming out of the Teyes harness, has 12V on it whenever the Teyes unit is powered on. So if you connect this wire to the car's antenna system, the antenna will be up all the time the Teyes is turned on, i.e. all the time you are driving or the key is in the Acc position. So, as I see it, there are three ways to fix this:

1. Teyes fix their software such that (i) the real radio app is activated when the Teyes unit detects the antenna wire being powered on by the car. But you'd have to press the FM/AM buttons on the old radio unit to use the radio.

2. Teyes make the blue Ant wire active only when the FM/AM radio is selected using the Teyes radio app. In this way, the Ant wire can correctly control the antenna as it's meant to do. This would be the best solution, but maybe this could be a hardware limitation of the unit - I don't know.

3. I could Install a separate switch which energises the antenna wire in the car's audio loom such that the antenna goes up when the switch is closed. So, in essence a manual aerial switch.

Solutions 1 & 2 would eliminate the need to modify any car wiring. Solution 3 means cutting the car's Ant signal. Has anyone got any comments/insights on this before I go and install a manual switch?

Camera installed.

A couple of small modifications had to be made for perfectly flush fitment to the hatch.

There are two small tabs that protrude into the opening for the camera. These will need to be removed or bent inwards.

I had to trim a sliver off of the rear inside of the gasket I installed in the Slee blank plate. It was just barely catching the lip of the mounting hole in the hatch.

Nice job! I'm about to install a GreenYi 1080P camera where the stock camera is/was. How do you remove the two rubber mounts (labelled NF11) to get the old camera out? Can you reuse them or did you buy new ones?

Got my Teyes unit installed yesterday in my 2006 LandCruiser. The unit itself seemed pretty plug and play to get up and running. The biggest PITA was getting the backup camera wires through the headliner and into the rear hatch. My brother helped make a reverse camera mount that I'm happy with. I guess my AC vents were pretty brittle from being a sunbeaten Florida vehicle, cause those broke pretty easily coming out and going in. Its definitely a HUGE upgrade. Still working out a few of the formatting kinks but I'm overall please with it.

A few things:

1. The hiss/fuzz on the LC is pretty annoying. Guess I'll move towards installing an amp in the near future unless anyone else has a resolution. Seems like the amp install and wiring won't be a walk in the park...
2. Something I figured out; on the main teyes home screen and home apple car play screen my antenna wont work. When I go into "vehicle settings" on the teyes interface, go to radio, my antenna becomes functional. Not that the antenna is that important to me, just weird why it works on that radio mode and not the regular Teyes home screen.
3. I also noticed the hiss/fuzz completely goes away when I am using my tune/scan knob under the "vehicle settings" radio. As I scan through stations with the tune knob (without stopping) there is no hiss/fuzz. Wondering if the FM/AM transmitter has anything to do with the noise???

Still working on getting through this lengthy thread to see if anyone has figured out the issues I'm dealing with.

Hi. I'm working through this as well with my 2005 LX470. Mine is a RHD NZ/Australian model and so doesn't have the Mark Levinson audio system that US models have. Mine has a Pioneer amp. They have different wiring. In fact, mine seems to have some of the 2002 version wiring.

I'm slowly knocking off the problems one by one. I've solved the antenna problem by installing a switch to control it. Basically, if you press the FM button on the original deck the antenna operates and a new Radio tuner appears but no sound. Then when you select the Teyes radio app, the antenna goes down! The Teyes antenna wire just goes +ve when the ignition is on.

I'm installing a GreenYi rear camera with the Sony starlight sensor. I tried an Aycetry camera which plugs into the existing number plate light opening, but I'm not impressed by its quality. I managed to reuse the factory camera wiring to deliver both reverse and Acc feeds to the camera location. I'm still not sure whether to power the camera all the time or just in reverse. I can choose which now.

Re audio. I got good sound with the factory amp & speakers and the Teyes head unit. But, as I'm giving the Lexus an electronics update, I've decided to fit a new amp, new speakers and a subwoofer 😊. Haven't fitted these yet.

I'll document things once I've finished. But happy to help out if I can in the meantime. Haven't had time to look at your files yet.

Has any one got the Live view for the rear camera working? I've got the camera working in reverse fine - and I've got power to the camera all the time. But I can't find the app to display the picture. It just isn't there. It's called Camera in one of the Teyes videos? I'm thinking it's probably a switch in one of the Factory settings which activates the app. But the descriptions of the switch are so cryptic, that it's a bit of a hit and miss process to understand what they actually do. I did see on the Teyes site that they said that Live View only works with Teyes cameras. Well I've got one of those (came with the kit) and it still doesn't work.

I managed to sort this out. If anyone else has this problem - the app is Cam REC. When I ran this app, it said "this is a paid service please contact your reseller" (or words to that effect). But If I long pressed on something in the app (can't remember what it was), it started displaying the rear view camera, and it still does. I presume they were/are planning to pay extra for live view - but it works nonetheless.

Hey everyone, I just purchased a 2006 LC with an aftermarket amp and grom vline. It has a horrible hiss even when the volume is all the way down. After researching, I believe the grounds are not correct. Is the easiest fix to install a Teyes head unit and be completely independent from the stock system( aftermarket amp, speaker, and head unit). Or, is there a way to fix my current system with the factory head unit and Grom? Thanks for any advice, here’s a picture of my current amp.

I would recommend buying new ones. The slee kit comes with new grommets. If you are really careful you can get them out and reuse, but the metal is very thin in that area. Easiest way is to remove is drill out the old ones.

Last night I ran rca cables to my aftermarket amp, which has new wires to each speaker. So now there is no remaining oem audio equipment in use. Sounds great!

But my steering wheel controls don’t work. Neither do my hvac controls so, I guess it’s the canbus settings. I tried the null, reset, lc100, reset trick a couple of time with no success.

Should I keep on trying that, or am I missing something?

I got the hvac controls working, but still no steering wheel controls. Are they canbus based, or do they work through the factory amp? Anyone know?

I found the answer. Canbus based.
Now why don’t mine work…
