Dan,
Has Loky seen your setup yet? He'll have some great ideas for your turbo. Should we get one here? There is a Saab 900 turbo at our local wreckers, Brian would probably sell the turbo off that for $50 if you and I pull it.

Josh

Josh, with regard to the turbo - I have my parts list:

Have you rung Cruiser Dan with those part numbers? He may be able to get them in Albuquerque and you and I can go get them and send them.

BF Goodrich KM2

Which shoes?

When I return from our trip to the States, I'll be looking at getting new tyres; I looked into the Interco SS-M16, but have discounted them as they are hard to get in Aust. I also haven't heard any good reviews on tread wear, and one road use.

So, I've decided on the KM2s, now I need to decide on width, as I am pretty set on the 33"

32X11.50R15LT
33X10.50R15LT
33X12.50R15LT

Even with the 10.50 we need flares to keep the tyres within the guards, or we face being pulled over and fined/defected/both....

I have 33x10.5x15 KM2s, they're a damn good tyre, I like the slightly narrower profile on those tyres too.

Herbs,
I just looked at a Ford Maverick with 33x10.5x15 KM2s - they look pretty good.

Now I'll have to see how much they are when I'm in the states next month and compare that to the price of fitted and balanced here in OZ.

I just mounted a set of 33-10.50-15 KM2's on factory 15x6 chromies. They line up perfect with the body sides as opposed to my old BFG AT's that were 33-12.50's on 15x10's. I like the tall skinny look too and with the narrower wheel, it'll hold a better bead at a lower pressure when wheelin.

Thanks Noey, your photos make the decision easy. My rims are 15x8, so they'll look a little different.

Now I'm going to see the cost difference between buying in the US and shipping (plus fit & balance) and buying locally.

Dan

Powdercoating is back - overall very happy with the results, just a shame that it cost so much for only a little bit of work.

I will be looking for other powdercoaters in September as I am in the middle of restoring a children's cyclops tricycle (circa 1950).

Painting the remaining bits and pieces

Note the cut out in the battery tray mount - that's to clear the power steering line - will clean it up a little more once I've been able to test fit (3B engine is still sitting on the hoist), then paint.

My rims are 15x8, so you can get an idea when you're here.

33x10.5x15 KM2s on 15x8 Delta Hurricane rims. Tray is currently off being pinted, that photo was a mockup.;)

Ahhh, trying to get the power steering lines sorted out before heading up to Darwin for another 3 weeks....

It's not going to happen.

I need to make a new reservoir feed line as well as the high pressure feed line. I should be able to place the orders while I'm interstate and then bend and weld them up when I return (it's not like the cruiser is going anywhere while I'm away).

Just went out to Hardy Spicer so I can finally get the power steering hoses and lines fabricated. They'll be done by the end of this week, so hopefully by the weekend, I'll be topping up fluids!

Been keeping myself busy over the past couple of months, unfortunately, not with the cruiser.

Too much travel with work to be able to commit to anything cruiser related, so I grabbed the opportunity to restore a childhood memory.

Just had a ride - it was great!

New power steering reservoir location - going to make up a proper bracket when I find some more time.

Almost ready to start, all I need to do is flush the radiator, charge the battery, top up the P/S fluid (bleed the lines), start her up!
