OK, so the LS2 vs LS3 thing just got me... I know crap about Chevy motors, so i Googled it... All the Corvette guys love the LS2, and extol it's virtues, but say that the LS3 is a genuine generational step up and (I quote) is THE hot motor of the future.

Oh, and it's a 6.2 liter. Damn. You are going to love this cruiser, I imagine. Your first post was quite...Casual about the swap, so how about some details?
-Want to hear about what works, what needs work
- any gauge switch outs or using OEM gauges?
-Ballpark cost for the conversion, including the LS3
-What was done to mate to the transfer case, or was that swapped.
-will you be running full or P/T 4WD?

Sorry for inundating you with ?s, but this is a cool project.

I have a G8 GXP with a 6 speed manual. It's a great motor but no real low end (with stock cam) the mid range is incredible though. With that cam, intake and a decent exhaust and a good tune you are at 440-450 crank HP.

Let me tell you why you wasted your money and should have kept the 1FZ and turbo'd it..... JK... HAHAHA!

Welcome to the forum and the bowtie V8 club. I did the conversion about two years ago, and could not be happier. While mine is not quite the LS3, I am perfectly happy with the power for the LQ9 (truck version with the LS2). I have talked to a lot of guys about this, and if you are feeling low on torque, I you can always swap in a truck intake for a noticable increase.

Here is (blair witch-like production) video I made after I finished the conversion.

Best of luck with the project and let me know if you run into any issues. Between everyone in this community, there are endless answers.

Thanks! I will definitely keep that in mind. Sweet rig you have! I actually googled V8 swaps prior to doing mine (and joining ih8mud) and your video came up. It was one of the things that inspired my build! Nice work!!!

Thanks! I'll tell you what...just keep in mind the fuel economy. I swapped mine expecting vast improvement, but I average 11-12 MPG in the city...maybe 16 on the freeway going long distances. Maybe you'll do much better with the fuel/cylinder management technology.
