I figured that maybe this is the right thread to add to. I'm planning on 35 x 10.50 x 15 tires on stock steel wheels from a 1970, also thinking skyjacker 4". I have a later model disc brake front end too. Question I need answered is what size spacers are needed to use these wheels and clear everything with the later front end.
Thanks for the help J

IMO, Skyjackers are a good choice. Typically folks purchase later model stk wheels. Stock drum brake wheels are assembled with rivets and the rivets heads come in contact with the calipers. Later model wheels are welded and don't have this problem. You probably wont have to run spacers or at a minimum maybe 1/4" spacers to clear the drag link on the drivers side.

My 35x10.5 on factory steelies clear everything without spacers in daily driving. On full hard right turn with some compression on the drivers side, ive had the tire rub the center pivot arm of the factory steering setup. Things are definitely tight, but unless youre off-roading, i dont think spacers are necessary.

The thing about wheels is that there's always the "wheel of the moment", meaning that a certain style will be popular for a while - almost to the exclusion of all else until the next thing comes along. I remember when the in thing was white spokers, then chrome spokers, then more modern Centerline/Alcoa style aluminum, then black rock crawler style and now stockers and caps. What I'm getting at is, just look at a bunch of pictures and decide what you like. Don't worry if anyone else likes it. It's your rig and you're the one who will see it every day. Personally, I'm considering a few different wheels at the moment. I have a folder on my computer of Land Cruiser pictures that I've pulled from here and other places. I always save pics if I see a rig I really like.
