It was called "Saving the old Rustbucket". One of the best threads on ih8mud.
Remember the thread, it used to be in top sticky at the top. I don't remember taking it to Hawaii part. Believe the delivery which not sure was ever completed in the thread was to the Northwest. Possibly Washington state. But my memory isn't what it used to be. I do see Aloha Jen posting her 75 in Hawaii in the thread.

It ended somewhere in Montana I believe. The story was never completed, although the 40 did make it all the way to HawaiiI.

Such a great read.

That's funny to read this post also, I was in the middle of a long run on Saturday and thought about the Rustbucket thread, thinking I should go back and read through it again. I've traveled almost all of that route at one point or another in my life. From TX, OK, the Colorado front range, nowhere WY, and across MT.

Me too. I think I've traveled most/all of that route as well.

Parts of his story are very moving, particularly about his father, visiting an ex-girlfriend at the cemetery in the remote Texas Panhandle, the Moose Drool girl, the guy in Dubois, and I guess I could go on and on. Man.

I met Lee (Sea Knight) at Katemcy in 2017. Hope to hear the rest of the story one day.

I lived just blocks from the Commander until a few years back. Wish I saw him more often for sure, we are getting a little older and need to take advantage of the opportunities to spend time with one another.

I remember reading that thread before I even got my 40 series, and before I made an account here. Such a good read! I was also trying to remember what it was called.
