We are here to serve... I understand what you have and the main replacement tank will work just fine, but we tend to go overboard on disclosure/transparency. The aux tanks are changing and that is the issue at hand.

Also, as suggested above with the photo of the 40 gallon main - the tank does tuck up reasonably well. Even though no one asked my opinion (smart crew on this forum) if it were me, I would start with the replacement main and IF I needed more fuel, add the smaller aux tank in back when it is available. 82 gallons is a lot of fuel.....

Didn't LRA used to make a combo water fuel aux tank or am I remembering incorrectly? I will be moving the spare and I would like to have a water tank where the spare went. Can the Aux tanks for fuel be used for water by changing the install?

LRA has never made combo tanks. Another firm does make separate tanks that are then installed together - one for fuel and one for water. LRA has seen a number in their shop that have required repairs and just don't like the combination. They do make stainless steel tanks for potable water in similar configurations as steel fuel tanks, but the supporting kit and fittings are different. We have not launched the water tanks as yet, as we are fully tasked with fuel tanks. Water tanks are on the list for next phase, no ETA as yet.

Okay, I can certainly understand that you have your hands full with the fuel tanks. The water tank is a farther out goal for me so maybe our time frames will come together!

Thanks for understanding!

Yes, we have the mule lined up and test template on the way. On track for July, along with tank for GX 470

We received 5 of the 40 gallon 100 Series replacement tanks last week, all sold, can order more for Early June arrival.

Thanks for the prompt response. A couple more questions:
  • Will the 2x tank have a sending unit for an aux gauge?
  • Will it have an internal or externally mounted pump?
  • Will it work with the OE factory dual filler neck?
  • Will it require the factory rear cross member to mount? A couple aftermarket bumpers require its removal.
  • Have you considered a bash guard for the tank bottom?

Yes, sending unit to combination gauge and pump control

Yes, externally mounted transfer pump

Not sure, as we provide a new, purpose built dual filler neck as part of the kit

I believe so, yes - will check instructions

No, but I believe we can upgrade the bottom material thickness by 50% to 3mm

I'd take a 24-25 gallon aux tank in a heartbeat!! I have a '98 LX so the charcoal canister shouldn't be any issue.

We have a 40 gallon aux that will fit the early 100s with the charcoal can in engine compartment.

Can have it for you first week of June $1,595

Sorry, but we will not be at OE West - we are doing long days to get the tank business launched and it just didn't fit. Best case is we make it to OE East. I know that doesn't meet your needs, but the larger issue is that we don't have a customer rig handy with a replacement main on hand. We sold one to a shop for client install last month and one to a client shop for install today (arriving April 1) but that is a Texas truck.

Suggest you post up a request here for a personal look-see or photos.

The other thing is there really is no current aux tank except for the 40 gallon tank that does not work on 2003 and after models.

Once we get the new 20-24 gallon aux tank engineered and in production, we will use that base to offer a new 40 gallon tank that accommodates charcoal can so we can suit all US spec 100 Series with either of two aux tanks (40 and 20 +/- gallons) that clear the charcoal can. At that point, the "old" 40 gallon tank for early 100s will be retired.

Hey Ward, any updates on the 24 gal aux tank? And will you be at OE East?

Jorge -
We got slammed with upgrade developments on two production tanks, so the 100 aux went to the back of the line. No ETA other than this year. Will not be in NC for OE, unfortunately. Frankly we are having a hard time keeping up with demand and we need to stay in the shop and office. Sorry :(

Friendly bump for any updates

Interested

Template / pattern model for the late 100 / 24G aux tank has been fitted and specs are back in Australia for CAD and build of the prototype. Same process under way for the late 100 replacement main tank.

Hope to have both in production by early 2019.

I’m curious why you guys want a 24G aux tank over a 40 galon main tank replacement?

Wouldn’t it be easier / simpler just to have a 40 gal main tank and move on?

EDITED to resolve my own confusion......

We recommend replacing the main tank when possible as a first step, but only when asked and then only when folks are tolerant of the reduced ground clearance of the replacement main. Added fuel through the replacement main keeps added weight when full closer to center of the truck.

Along the same lines as question of 40 gallon aux tank or 24 gallon aux tank - a decision that may be impacted by customer preference for better clearance and less weight at full load of fuel through the smaller aux tank.

Customer demand rules.......Cost for us is developing multiple versions of a given product are usually not a big deal, which is why we have 40, 24 and 12.5 gallon versions for the 200 Series.

Customers tell us what they want and we build it if it makes sense. :)
