You can also be reasonably sure that if someone fails inspection we'll do what we can to fix it. Salute.

To clarify, if anyone fails inspection, they will be unwelcome from riding with any Logan's Run official trail ride groups.

....but if it can be fixed or repaired prior to the trail ride, I'm sure others would be willing to assist as needed to make rigs compliant. Geesh - don't scare the new people from even coming ;)

You checked with Onur to make sure you have all the parts you'll need for your repairs, BK? Sounds like you've found a good way to get free labor!

FOOD REQUEST

Does anybody have a killer BBQ sauce recipe that you're dying to show off? I'd love to have some folks make and bring some sauces for the pig this year.

I could mix a batch of hotness ...

Both of you are correct. In reality, if we inspect a truck and it fails, if the owner + others (I'd be helping too) can repair it, we will re-inspect the truck. If it passes the second time, then you're good! I have found loose/missing battery tie downs (that I've fixed), missing spare tires and other small things that can cause a big problem if something goes wrong.

New members can easily be intimidated by the inspection description, which might have been written in 1969, I thought I wouldn't pass reading it last year as a new guy, running at the last minute trying to figure out "what the hell is a service brake and how do I stall my 80 engine with it?". I remember thinking "SCCA logbook safety inspections are not as intense!"
But in the end, do you have a safe truck that passes state inspection and not a rattle death trap? Then get a CB and a fire extinguisher (may never used either), and you are good to go. My CB was turned once that weekend, not since. I better check the batteries!

SC doesn't have vehicle inspections, but you've hit the nail on the head :)

To clarify, any automatic vehicle does not need to stall their engine to pass (because it's difficult, if not impossible to do). All automatics have a parking brake, so you get an automatic pass there, and the service brake is tested by standing on the brakes and revving up the engine. The point is to ensure that you cannot drive through your own brakes.

To give everyone context, we do carry event insurance and the safety inspection is a prerequisite for that insurance. The inspection needs to be taken seriously for that reason, but believe me when I say that my goal (with the inspections) is only to make sure that everyone's truck is safe, not prevent people from participating unnecessarily.

Tomorrow is the last day for online registrations!!! Keep 'em coming!! 41 people registered so far!

So if I don't bring my 40, which would not pass the inspection, I am not allowed to ride with someone?

Awesome!! I sent you an email.

Of course you can ride with someone, you just can't bring your truck on the trail "ride".

Edited post above to make it crystal clear.

Registered. Lil Mush and I will arrive late afternoon Friday. Looking forward to it.

Just registered. Still not 100% sure I can make it yet (work schedule), but I wanted to get in while I could. @Rice is a bad influence...

This satisfies my goal of not being the only 80 on the trail going "tick, tick, tick, tick"

Have you heard Heather's? Best guest is wrist pin knock. She is driving it till it blows up.

Unfortunately, due to some issues with the turbo and injection pump on my 70, I will not be bringing her this year.

I'll be driving up in my Prius. On 35's. @bkfj40 made me chop the fenders. :)

I'll still be leading the Friday AM run, except in BK's truck.... if he doesn't break it.

Looks like I am going to make it. I'll register this afternoon.
