Any recommendations for a good electronics supply store? I'm looking for someplace I can walk in. Show the guy behind the counter what I'm wiring up and he can give me the correct gauge wire, fuses, and connectors. I could probably buy the stuff at AutoZone but I'd rather pay a little more and get better quality stuff.

There used to be a great place in Arlington close to DC where I got heat shrink, wire, solder, etc but I just looked and I don't think it's there anymore. I just looked. Ed!?

I would be glad to help. Are you in a rush or can it wait for the next tech day? What would you like to do? If we have other members who are interested we could have an electrical class.
Ed

OBTW, Arlington Electronics was a great store until the owner retired. He sold the business to a group of lawyers. They poorly managed the business. It closed within a few months.

Have read the whole thread, including CLCC site references and suggestions for OTRAMM, IronPig, Forge Specialties. I get that they are the "go to" shops, but the closest one is 1:15 away. I can see making the trek for "major" things (or for restoring old LCs?) but for routine maintenance on more current models (e.g., 200 series) are there any shops in the Fairfax County/Loudoun County area? I want to avoid arguing with 30-year Camry techs about greasing axles :frown:, or my dealer's inability to check out my parking brake. :bang:

Has anyone used "Arlington Motor Cars", 4x4 specialist, oddly enough located in Tyson's Corner?

TIA,
DN

Did you ever check these guys out? I'm willing to do a drive-by and ask pointed questions, if anyone would like.

I for one would really appreciate it. I used Arlington Motor Cars to do my pre-purchase inspection several months ago but that was about it. I barely knew (know) enough to even ask slightly rounded questions o_O.

Update: Arlington Motorcar Service may be closed down. Tried to look them up to see if they do alignments. Google local search said "shut down." Not sure I trusted that, tried to search for the website and came up empty (from my phone).

I sent them a request a couple months ago for a quote for Old Man Emu components and didn't get a response.

You may want to try HighTechAuto in Chantilly, VA for service. I have had some work done by them. They at least understand modified trucks with lift kits etc. Not your standard shop or Toyota Stealership. Their phone number is (703) 763-4865.

Hello, I am looking for a personal recommendation( you personally have used) for a mobile locksmith that can do a ecu flash on a 2002 lx470. They would preferably travel north of DC.

I bought it for the gf 2 weeks ago with only a non-keyless valet key planning on putting the transponder under the dash. Now I realize there is no way to program new keyless entry remotes without a master and that is not going to fly.
