^^ Interesting… But I'm always hesitant to take on someone else's project like that.

Looking at it some more, if all the parts are in decent shape, it's probably a decent price?

Apparently he was trying to sell the roller in February for $750. So in two months he put the drivetrain in and then lost interest? [EDIT] Looked some more and a further post says it already has the 3.4 in it, but the $750 is for just the roller.

I'm not sure that a half-swapped drivetrain is worth $1750.

I'd likely pay the $750 for the roller, I'm just not sure a semi-mounted engine and trans is worth the extra $1750. I haven't priced a 3.4.

Last I priced a decent mileage 3.4l was anywhere from $600-$1200. I saw this added when looking for a body for my frame.

My question is what wiring does he have to go with the swap, what wiring is left to be done to get running.
The craigslist add shows he did a 5spd swap, so I am curious if he kept the auto ECU wiring or found a 5spd wiring harness. Not that it can't be done that way, just more wiring fun that has to be done.

I've got a 8" 5.29 4cyl 3rd. It will fit a v6 axle 3rd Gen 4runner too. It's open with unknown gears and unknown installer.

$300 in Lancaster pa.

It may be priced high to compensate for internet low ballers. I usually price high to count for the inevitable low ball offer, making it easier to get what I actually want for said item. Cash talks, if he’s had it for sale for a while and you toss a reasonable offer he may jump on it. Or at least open it up for negations.

The way I read it, he was grabbing the engine and transmission from the truck - the 4Runner was originally auto, though.

Motor was pulled out of a 1996 Toyota Tacoma. Had 200k miles. The truck ran good An was all compression checked before pulling the motor out of the rolled truck. The 5spd trans was also used to put in the 4runner.

I agree about the wiring and all. I felt the $1750 for engine and trans was a bit high - and particularly if you then have to go out and source things that are missing. Also, he says he's already put the trans in the truck and put the pedal assembly in, but the pictures don't show that - even the auto shifter is still in place. Maybe he's done work since he took the pictures, I don't know.

I do the same. Just saw a conversation on FB Marketplace with someone offering a camera for $400 and someone offered $100. No matter what price you set, some idiot comes along and offers something completely unreasonable.

I might contact him and try to go take a look at it just for grins, if nothing else.
