I just paid the equivalent of $5.21 USD/USgal.

Its a short drive to Blane now with that new Bridge......the toll kind of kills the savings tho. Diesel in Blane 3 days ago was $3.99/gal, I have a feeling its over $4 now tho.

I won't be driving to Blaine, time, fuel cost...false economy for me.

I will be upping the ratio of veggie in my fuel as we warm up. :)

Has anyone considered converting these blue plastic barrels for fuel use?

What ratio are you using now? Pure or waste oil?

I'm using unused veggie oil as I stumbled over a lot that couldn't be used for food preparation but the logic holds for well filtered, used veggie oil. I'm running approximately 10-15 litres oil per full tank of diesel in the -5C to 5C weather and will be upping it based on feel. Basically, if I don't 'feel' any difference in performance and starting I will keep upping the ratio. I expect to run 50-50 in the summer.

Great to know! But unfortunately I just realized you're probably running it in an in-line pump on an engine with pre-combustion chambers... I know it can be done on our direct injected 1HD-Ts but it's NOT a 'no-brainer'... Although I am SERIOUSLY thinking about doing it and what it will require :)

Have you looked at the pistons yet? I presume a thin enough fiber optic snake camera could do it...

Yes, 2H, inline pump and pre-cups. No, haven't looked at the pistons. Why do you ask?

To see if there is any evidence of coking on the top ring, and scoring on the cylinder... I guess it would be difficult to see in your case because of the pre-cups; on the 1HD-T, since it is direct injected one could presumably see directly into the the main chamber by removing glow plugs or injectors...

127.9 here.
The delica boys were saying in 2008 that when it got over 1.33 it was cheaper for them to buy straight veggy oil cubes.
Thats crazy if you ask me.
WVO system is going to be SERIOUSLY looked at.

i am looking at WVO for my winter beater for the wife to drive in the summer. she is putting on 600 km/week and at 30 mpg the cost of fuel is crazy talk.

I am watching the price of veggie oil at Costco & Superstore verses diesel at the pumps. It is getting closer.
