Jealous. . . Next door to the greatest super-power in the world and I have to pay $1.15/L for a gasoline BY-PRODUCT. Ugh.

Don't cry! I'm originally from Holland, and my family has to pay
EURO 1.20 for a liter diesel, and €1.50/L for gasoline. That's approx USD 1.64 and USD 2.05!!!

And for a car with the weight of a HJ60 you also pay €2800.- (USD 3800.-) road tax per year, and insurance: €650.- at least (USD890.-). But okay, if your car is an old timer (older than 25 years), you don't pay road tax anymore.
So count your fuel blessings in the north, my 4WD friend!
Btw, in Suriname, were I live for now, fuel prices are approx the same as in the states, there's no road tax here, and insurance is only USD112,- per year.
