Yah it is tax. That's why they are not quick to come in a cap the price of oil and fuel. It should be regulated. Any other major commodity, such as electricity and natural gas are controlled. High fuel costs are raising our inflation to new highs.
We are already seeing very high prices in the supermarket. Definitely shop around for your diesel. Don't think like the gas world where everyone is similar in price. High volume truck stops with the highspeed nozzles and card locks are the best bet to pay the least. If you do not have an account at a card lock I suggest doing so right away. They generally will have the most competitive prices and you most likely will get a discount. I get about 7 cents discount.

Brownbear, you definitely have a very smart, wise and common-sensical outlook on things with working solutions.

If only our 'expert' politicians had such smarts, we wouldn't be in the s***s we are in now. Unfortunately most are too educated for their own intelligence and limited vision. Hence the troubles we are in now, or, like we used to say when I was learning programming, 'Bull**** in, bull**** out".

1.41 in south western ontario, that will be the last time I buy diesel in town, from now on I'm driving to truck stops!

$1.41? I Wish!!! I paid 1.559 last night... At the cheapest station around!!!

On my trip up through Mexico I was paying around 6 pesos/liter (that's around $2.00/gallon). I filled all my jerry cans before crossing into El Paso where diesel is $4.59 at the cheapest place I saw

I'm mad enough at big oil for screwing us diesel drivers that I WILL be doing bio-diesel somehow. There is NO justifiable reason for diesel to be over $1/gallon more than regular gasoline other than big oil and governments screwing us.

Any folks making bio and interested in selling small quantities, I'm an interested customer!!

i have been pretty sceptical of running the WVO but it is looking better all the time...

side note:
last weekend i took the 4 door diesel up to owen sound shopping and just outside rockford they had a stop check for "Ontario finance". he never waved me down so i drove on through. stopped at the light and across the highway was another stop check...while i am sitting there we decide to turn right instead of going straight through and bingo, this ass of a cop lays on the horn and flips on the lights. i pull over wondering WTF? he comes up to the wifes side of the vehicle and demands we go back and "get our fuel tested".
she responds with "i would love to but i can't"
"why not!!"
"because i do not have a steering wheel"

the bugger never even cracked a grin.

we went back and got tested...clean of course.

so this made me wonder what will happen if we run WVO and get pulled over? will we get busted by the "finance cops"?

Wayne, what EXACTLY did they do to check the fuel? Look at color? Chemical reaction?

1.35 in Ladysmith, 1.45 in Nanaimo, both stations are mohawks.

it's the 50cents a litre in tax the government gets that really pisses me off.

1.59$/L in Chateauguay, south shore of Montreal. I bet we hit 2$ this summer.

Eric, I HOPE you don't fuel there, Khanawake being so close with its cheapest fuel in the province!

count yourselves lucky. here in the U.K it averages £1.30 a litre. a gallon (4.5l) would cost approx $11.40 in your money!!!

I think your math is off. Well not quite... but I see 2.75 CND to a litre by your numbers. And the US use the US gallon, 3.7 litres....

Either way your being screwed by your government. The cost per barrel of crude and the cost at the pump does not equal your prices. The US has the least taxed fuel, Canada has a lot more tax, and well your all tax. Time to push for a change. I'm glad to see the protests in Europe lately. You've been taking it for too long. Where is the freedom in that?

What I find totally unjustifiable is that, being only 100km from the largest refineries in the East, I have to pay $1.55 a litre. That's a whopping 20 cents more than what you pay, Wayne, up North much farther away from where it's produced.

To say I am angry at our government for their blood sucking ways is putting it very, very politely. A few centuries ago these bloodsuckers would HANG for their outrageous profiteering policies!

I've never even seen one of those stop checks around here... I hope I never do, although i'm still clean as of now... They are checking for dyed diesel though not WVO, although i'm not sure what the difference would be it's the same kind of thing no road tax...

I had a friend of mine tell me about getting stopped in your area Wayne, he got pulled over in his VW jetta... the funny thing the cop didn't realize, it was a gasser not a diesel, it just made ALOT of engine noise....hahaha
