I really like the look sans OEM rack. Plus, quieter on the highway.

IIRC, at least on the Mr. T version, you can remove the center pieces first and then remove each side independently. But the wrapped feet works just as well.

The bases of my roof rack are literally disintegrating in the rear. I think you just convinced me to remove my roof rack. Thanks man.

Nice detailed write up. I'm sure it will be helpful to a lot of people.

What up fellas. Happy New Years!!!

Well. My cv boots, both of the inner, were leaking a bit. Enough to throw a bit of grease around the wheel well.

So I decided to re-clamp them. I ordered a set, 10 piece clamp set, of PFrans.

Deutschland!

Chill afternoon project. Here's all you need. Clamps, various sizes of flat screw drivers, 7mm sockets and ratchet, some kind of tool that will cut the clamps, and a rag to clean up

I used a very small flathead screw driver to lift the tabs on the old clamps.

image.jpeg

Then I used larger and wider flat head screw drivers to eventuall have the tabs perpendicular to the clamps and pulled the clamp up.

Using my various size screw drivers, and being careful not to damage the boot, I opened up the old clamps enough that the diameter of the clamp's opening was wide enough to go over the boots lip.

I then cut the clamps off.

I cleaned the surrounding area around the boot and attached the PFrans clamp around the axle. Attaching the clamp around the axle makes tightening the clamp easier. Once the clamps began to tighten I ran the clamp over the lip of the boot and placed it in its proper place. Using my ratchet and 7 mm sockets I tighten down the clamps.

Viola!!! New PFrans McMaster clamps installed.

I will keep my eye on them for any leaks and tightening.

A while back I had replaced my starter. As I was tightening down the manifold with a manifold nut I accidently dropped the nut in the engine bay. I could hear the rattle of that nut when I drove the truck around.

Guess what I found in the process of replacing my clamps????

I love it!!!!!

Looking forward to my TB soon.

Excellent write-up! Are all the Roof drip moldings the same, RH and LH? and under the same part #? Many thanks!!

How's it been using these clamps? I bought OEM and noticed I can't replace the clamp without taking the axle apart.

Super easy and quick. I have had mine on for a few months now. Need to order another set for the outer boots this weekend.

PFrans.

Super chill.

It's been a while since I've posted on my thread. Since September I have made it up to the local mountains(Big Bear) a few times with la familia.

I had the Mrs. drive the truck on a few chill trails.

I had been looking for a set of wheels to replace my chromies. Finally found a set. Thanks to Matt @mattafact for selling them to me. Clean set.

They came with the gold Lexus emblem. Let's modify them!!!

On the backside of the cap the emblem is held on by some adhesive.

I took off the adhesive, took off the emblems, and painted them flat black to match the emblems on the truck.

I put back the emblems on the cap and added some silicon to adhere.

Final product.

I hate to say this, but I miss the chromies. I'm digging this set up though.

Also my truck has passed the 100k mile mark. It's on the OG TB. I need to get in there and replace it. It's next on my to-do list.

Looks awesome!!

Regarding the roof moulding that covers the bolts in the roof, does anyone know if the one that goes toward the front is the same as the one that goes toward the back? My LX470 is missing one and I want to make sure I order the right part number. I have the one from the other side, but I do not see a part number on it. It looks the same length as the pictured one, but it has four clips. Maybe someone has the part numbers?

Thanks!

To answer my own question above, the correct part number for the middle piece roof drip moulding on a 2000 LX470 is 75557-60020. It is required to be ordered from a Lexus dealer, rather than a Toyota dealer, so it must be specific somehow to the Lexus variation. It's about $10 bucks. Compared to part 75557-60010, which I ordered from the local Toyota dealer and had in hand briefly, this middle moulding is definitely longer and perhaps slightly wider (if I recall).

75557-60020 - Genuine Lexus MOULDING, ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH

Maybe this will help someone dealing with their roof racks.

@PabloCruise

Sold those wheels a while back. Chrome was a bit pitted and was yellowing. Not cool.

@crypticresponse

I wish I could be of more help. I was under the impression that all roof drip moulding was the same for LC and LX. I bought my 6 pieces from Toyota. Hopefully someone else will chime in with some info.
