No idea how to attach my video. Moving on! :flipoff2:

Installed the old coil, no idea what the manufacturer is. No change. Zero spark from coil to distributor plug.

But I did forgot to have to f***ing key switched to on….for spark testing. Told ya I’m new and special. I turned that key to on and that 1FZ-FE roared to life immediately. So much relief.

I think the Distributor has been 180 out, thanks to all of you who have pushed me to get it right. I used a compression tester hose and verified the compression stroke and then got lost chasing spark with that ignition turned to off. Oh well, I’m now familiar with that section of the FSM.

I have to stop for the day, but I don’t want to. It’s pizza night and I’m the chef. I’ll be back on the road soon…like a glacier. Just need to finish the cooling system flush with the distilled water in there, then Toyota red, Timing, powers steering and transmission fluid checking, and it’s ready to drive around near and far.

Glad you got it to start!

I have almost assembled all of my cooling system flush kit that you came up with!
I discovered that my big PVC ball valve fit into the radiator hoses without any further fittings. It was pretty slick.

Today is the day!

I’ve got my work list drawn up and the weather is beautiful for doing the work in the driveway in the driveway. I’m moving glaciers today..

Here’s my current list:

Plan your work and work your plan.
This advice has been golden since given in 03/18 just after I made my fist few posts.

I even have some cold been to celebrate with this afternoon!

I had to add some updates to your list.

8. Drive to Starbucks for some coffee.
9. Stop by the mall for some curb hopping.
10. Head up to Baker like all the other cool kids with Land Cruisers.

I knew it. I am not cool

Update:
I got a few things done before I encountered problems.

I was able to bring the engine up to operating temp and circulate the distilled h20.

I then followed the FSM procedure for setting the timing, which was straight forward.

I drained out the distilled water and it was a nasty color, so I flushed again with the hose rig. I then filled with distilled H2O again and filled, but only managed to get about a gallon and a half in. I decided to circulate that and monitor the level when it came up to temp. That’s when I noticed my CEL was on.

I pulled code 25 and 26, and the FSM says this:

The truck has a different idle sound, especially at the exhaust sound. I’m now wondering if I have an injector that’s not working correctly, or despite my checking a clip that’s not fully seated. But the list of trouble areas are places my hands were minus the O2 sensors.

I had to stop unfortunately, so more to sort out on Monday. The saga continues!

Bummer dude, how old are your O2 sensors? About a year ago, I had codes 25 and 26 that I troubleshoot to both O2 sensors. R2 both and the codes have never returned.

New Toyota set in 2018.

I did shoot a blast of brake kleen into the throttle during no start instead of starting fluid…maybe that killed them. I’ll check them out.

I doubt it.

You've had literally the entire top end of your engine off. It's quite possible it's a vacuum leak or something simply unplugged.

When accomplishing repairs and a problem arises after, always look back at what you did before looking for new problems.

This is my plan. I touched most of these trouble areas.

Walked into that one.

So I recorded the exhaust, it sounded different. It’s never had this thumping sound before…I’m going to check all the plugs when I fist was chasing my spark issues plug one had some bridging, I’m guessing it was some debris from my lengthy period of time working on it. The bridging easily scraped off with my nail. So it’s possible There could be more fouled/ bridged plugs.

I also need to check the injectors.

I also need to triple check the Toyota intake hose. I think it’s original, and it’s passed my inspections but maybe it just needs a new one.

One more video of idle in the engine bay

Misfire definitely.

Use long screwdriver or similar to listen for injector firing at each...

I was suspicious that was the case, but I’ve never tried diagnose on my own before, it’s part of the “new and special” code I’m constantly throwing.

Will do. I have a set of mechanic’s stethoscope for this purpose.
