Honestly if I could just walk out the door with them I would. And pass them out for free. There are so many metal tools just getting pushed into the corner.

The 747 was the last plane completely built in house. So a lot of the work done on them isn't done anymore.
The 47 was boss. It’s big and maintenance requirements are huge but the money those work horses have made is also huge. The quest to burn less fuel bows to payload and payoff.

We are still building them. They're built right behind what I work on. Monsters.

The 777x is basically as big.

Basiclly? The triple has been a good bird but can’t launch at 875k. Yes new planes burn less but more trips are made. The upper deck doesn’t exist in the triple 7. Have you flown in the upper deck?

I didn't say as powerful.

I said basically as big, nothing about cargo capacity. I have never flown on a 747 only worked in them. I have also worked on all four test flight 777x

The 747-8 has a wing span of of 224 and a length of 252
With a total thrust of 266,000 lbs
The mtow is actually 987,000lbs

The 777-9 has a 235 foot wing span and is 252 feet long
It "only" has 220,000 lbs of thrust with only 2 engines and it's mtow is 775,000.

Like I said. It's basically as big. The 777-9 is a monster of a plane.

PDX has me dedicated in the world of 37’s and busses. I prefer the buss.

Greg’s thread has turned into chat about planes and vises. May as well since his cruiser is always down. :flipoff2:
Wait, this thread is about vises and planes now? I mentioned the Boeing surplus store in my previous post and I was sitting here reminiscing about all the times I went there so I decided to do a GIS for Boeing Surplus Store and this was the first image.

So, I propose we take over this thread but we need to play the long game. The plan is for us to hijack this thread at every opportunity. Over the course of a few months, we will have buried Greg's epic baselining adventure as much as he has delayed and procrastinated the baselining itself. Then one of you (not me) will study day and night and become a cruiser guru and soon become a moderator. You'll play it cool for several months, laying low. After you've established your credibility, you will change the title of Greg's thread one letter each month. He won't realize the subtle changes. Soon it becomes so far from cruiser-talk that, Woody or Onur gets so infuriated, this thread gets moved to a jeep forum. Greg will have no idea what happened and he will be left wondering why he has a bunch of jeep bros with flat-brim hats and bedazzled jeans and Affliction t-shirt, drinking Zimas and Smirnoff Ices. The end.

Whut?

 Keep it coming fellas!

With level of humor I have zero incentive to increase my pace on cruiser work.

Scrounged up a good one!
Now I can hang in the vice collection crew…

plus an old set of proto pliers, and a 10mm x 12mm Toyota wrench, a couple of craftsman 6pt 1/2 metric sockets, and a craftsman 1/4” 6” extension. And some cool MIJ slip joint pliars.

I also worked on the cruiser…
07893C4C-C95F-46AC-B956-1E2F0E6AA4A5.jpeg

  • Installed heater control valve
  • Cleaned fan and fan clutch of nasty oily grunge
  • Cleaned up so I have room to install the radiator….maybe tomorrow if my morning work meeting isn’t a cluster.

Yup, I’m hoping to buy fluids tomorrow, and get that radiator installed so I can do timing and flush the power steering this weekend. Then I just need to finish the u joints and it will move!

Closer and closer../

Ok, well I’m doing my best to make sure this hobby…not sure that’s a fair description of what I’m doing here…doesn’t come between me and my family. So the cruiser didn’t get the love I anticipated this weekend. However once I got the kids to school I busted my ass and got a bunch of stuff finished up.
  • Installed new Toyota Spark plug cables. I didn’t realize they come bundled with the cord holders. It made installing them a breeze. The cords are all labeled too and based on these things alone I like them better than the NGK ones I pulled from the PO.
  • Installed a new Toyota coil. Ignition system is now 100% Toyota parts. This also makes me happy.
  • Installed new Toyota belts.
  • Cleaned fan shroud and installed fan and shroud.
  • Installed headlights
  • Installed battery box.
  • Filled crank case with M1 10w30 as per FSM for my climate. We will se how it does via blackstone.
  • Drained transmission pan….still dripping into my pan.
  • Replaced rear inspection hole cover on the bell housing and cleaned a bunch of oil soaked gravel from the under side of the lower bolt on inspection hole.
  • I cut the PAIR bracket off of my air cleaner housing. Test fitting a 91-92 battery box and Slee washer relocation bracket to gain some under hood storage while I decide on a double battery setup. Don’t need one ATM, but maybe for the winch lower on the build list.
I did discover there are a couple of things I still need before I can get that coffee at Starbucks and tackle the mall parking lot:
  • Ordered a belt tension gauge
  • Ordered the vent hose that runs from the VC to the TB
  • Ordered Missing radiator support bolt…how I lost that is beyond me…
A few photos for those that are visual….

You can now obtain a 95-97 steel, heater coolant return tube since you removed the PAIR valve. This will make it possible to attach a food warmer tray/basket to the head above the exhaust manifold.
