Doing things again! Front output flange from cruiser outfitters installed and front DS mounted. License plate light installed. Oil pressure sender and T fitting for mechanical gauge installed (I looked for hours in my shop for the sender…ordered a new one then found it 30 minutes later sigh). Worked on a temporary oil pressure mechanical gauge mount. The dash was already hacked so didn’t feel bad cutting it more. Will probably end up redoing it in metal at some point but this works for now.

I like that T fitting for a mechanical pressure reading. Any particulars worth sharing?

It’s 1/8” bspt inlet, 1/8” bspt end outlet (for oem sender) and 1/8” npt top outlet for fitting to the mechanical gauge.

Other item of note…expect it to take f o r e v e r to find parts if you stopped work 3 years ago! I searched for 3 hours to try and find the new oem sender I knew I had. Finally threw in the towel and ordered a new one to end up finding the other one 30 minutes later, ha!

Finished the free hand dash plate and installed switches. Tomorrow I plan to work to finish wiring and then move on to prepping the motor for first start…need to go over everything to make sure I didn’t miss anything 3 years ago.

More stuff done. Spent the day finishing all the wiring (I hope) and other misc things. Filled transfer case with oil, installed some switch knobs. Huge shoutout to Mark @Coolerman for all his help / wiring expertise! Had to rob the heater to duct rubber from my grey truck as the SOR version I bought was garbage.

One item of note…if you purchased a new battery from Walmart 4 years ago and let it sit not connected to a trickle charger, expect it to be trash. So picked up a new red top tonight plus a tail pipe turndown (the exhaust will eventually get redone as this NOS Toyota exhaust for some reason runs below the frame rails thus prohibiting installing the skid plate).

Tomorrow is first start day barring any unforeseen issues!

Will this actually make it to Uwharrie next weekend? :)

Well...ch!tfuk...first major hurdle. Was filling radiator and it's leaking out of the drain stem. Radiator was rebuilt but i know I should've done what I told myself and bought a new OEM one.

Sent a message to CityRacer hoping he can overnight me one, but open to others that might be able to as well.

Does anyone know the part number for the oem drain stem plug? Will need to procure one of those too...so much for procrastination!

I could overnight a radiator but the earliest you would get it would be Wednesday... or I could bring one up and we swap it in the campsite 😁
They are also available through your local dealership.

Thanks for the offer! Got one coming from city racer. Should be here Tuesday.

If it's only the drain petcock leaking, thread a used spark plug in there. Same M14x1.5 thread pitch and works a treat

Interesting! That could be an easy temporary fix. I’ll try it.

The spark plug trick did not work with using a 2f plug. Ironically had a 3/8' bspt male to 3/8" npt fitting (frivolous part buying for the win!) so made a trip to HD for a 3/8" npt extension and cap. Got it all put together, threaded into the drain hole of the rad (with sealant) and filled with 1/2 gallon of distilled water. Immediately started to leak at the fitting/drain thread so my guess is the female threads of the rad are focked OR I split the brazing around the threads when i aped the OEM cock off. Bummed but not surpised...so I'll order a new OEM rad and hope I have time to finish.

@ToyotaMatt - I think i am good currently. The new radiator will come with the drain cock and i can use the end piece off my current one.

Appreciate everyone's suggestions!

You can see how rusted the male threads of the original cock are - daylight showing!

Opened back up and ready for a new radiator. When I inspected the old one I could see where is was leaking, not from the threads but where the drain piece was brazed to the housing.

I've got an oxy setup now thanks to @Hokie LX . We could get some brazing rod and glue it back together.
