LCXC 2018: Baja!

I'll have my WFR Certification complete by then in case anyone does not know how to apply a bandaid.

Bandaid? this is Baja, take 2 cerveza's three times a day and motor on. If a high lift jack can break a bead it certainly can do CPR

Excellent point. I will adjust my medkit as needed.

I will also look into a way to use our on-board-air solutions for CPR.

I actually did mouth to mouth on a stranger once.

Made me wanna gag/barf...but the guy lived.

As long as they don't try to smooch me back, we're good.

It's ok, I'm bringing a nurse.

Looking through the dates, what does everyone think of 7 days over the boarder? Assuming we're crossing the boarder by the 24th and back by the 1st. This way, everyone on the excel can be included. If anyone wants to go past that, we can have a few of us that break off, assuming we don't make it to Cabo.

Keep it mind this is seven days living out of your rig, in Mexico. For the normal folk, including the ladies that may be attending, that can be a lot.

But I think for the first inaugural LCXC, a seven day trip would be pretty rad. We'll see how it goes this year and adjust for next year.

Thoughts?

I like it!

A little extra time at the end in case any of us land in a Mexican jail, etc. :hillbilly:

Oh man....you guys will love it. I've been driving all over Mexico since I was 15 and went to school in Cuernavaca south of Mexico city for a year exploring pyramids and getting into any mischief I could. Like Kurt said Baja will be no problem. I spent a couple of months there surfing and wandering. I take groups of models to places in Mexico about once a year to do portfolio shoots for agencies. There are awesome tropical jungle places around Puerto Vallarta, and the coast along there at Mazatlan is awesome surfing. I used to blast across Mexico on Hiway 40 to Mazatlan to surf and stay for 2 or 3 months. Also used to go down there hunting with my dad. I grew up an hr from Brownsville and we would skip school and cross the border when we first got our drivers licenses @ 15 and go to bars and drink beer.
Baja is awesome. You can pull over on a deserted beach and pass out....then sometimes when you wake up, there will be women up the beach under thatched roofs cooking fish and serving fish and rice. It will taste like the best meal you ever had. I usually have a cup of coffee and a beer for breakfast in Mexico. Then when my motor is running I have some food. You don't have to worry about crime at all after you get away from border towns unless you are on the west coast of the mainland and go way to the cartel zones and look for trouble.
The other awesome places are further down in Central America. Nicaragua and Costa Rica & Belize. I could go on for hours about those places and South America and the Amazon. Just friggin awesome. And if you have a problem people will go out of their way to help and not for money but sincere concern. Wish I could break away this spring at that time. But it is a bad time for me. That should be wild with that many vehicles. You should try to make it all the way to Cabo just for the hell of it. It's not really like the real Mexico anymore. It has Home Depots and shopping malls and convenient marts. But it is a cool place and awesome fishing. If you have time to take the ferry to the mainland it is a different world. Jungles and mountains and beaches. Where ever you go it will be awesome and not speaking Spanish is no problem. You are just gonna wish you had more time. :)
Oh and Jesse Ventura lives just down baja not far. Maybe you should drop in on him with 40 vehicles for a chat. Lol

I would imagine one could tap into sick leave.

sounds good, we're in!!!

@kreiten stop by Sacto and we will head out together. You guys are welcome to spend night at our home.

Just to be clear, which day we planning on leaving San Diego, and which day are we returning?

I would think we would be meeting in San Diego on Saturday the 24th right?

Ready to go over the boarder on the 24th? I guess?

Basically in Ensenada by the 24th which is 3 hrs away from SD assuming we roll through the boarder somewhat easily at Tecate. I figure Tecate would be way better than Tijuana. I hear Mexicali is the easiest but that's far out of the way.

Looking through YouTubes. It would be fun to get this recorded. Some channels have horrendous vids off-road vids with a lot of views. Not looking for cash from YT or anything, just something cool for everyone to watch.

Will anyone have some fair video equipment? I'll have my Mavic drone and my garbage Canon T6. Thinking of getting a gopro for vehicle shots and some personal videos (rig builds, campsite walk arounds, ect) I know Ken @kreiten will have the stills on lock. :)
