We all love our LCs, but that doesn't mean we don't have pet peeves and can't vent about them. I'm finding a lot of little annoyances myself and thought I'd start a list in case anyone wants to let out some steam and add to it.

(If you complain about people complaining here, remember that you too are thereby complaining.)

Here's my start:

1) Light buttons up top are impossible to see in the dark--ie, exactly when you need to see them
2) The Hatch Hotel -- you can check in, but you can't check out
3) 2020 engine auto shuts down to protect all us kids who buy LC200s from ourselves
4) Unlike the engine, the auto bright lights wait too long to shut down when cars approach
5) Static charger too small for many phones
6) Downright silly, what-am-I-supposed-to-put-in-here storage space in rear console
7) Turning the screen off at night when you want to see the road better requires looking away from the road for several button presses
8) Great double visor concept half-ruined by totally unnecessary cutouts in the second visor
9) Unoccupied passenger seat audibly vibrates on rough roads

2) you can add a momentary switch for $10 (wired to the factory hatch button) to open from the inside. Or you can buy a "kit" from one of the vendors here. i'll post up link soon.

7) do you have your screen to switch to "night mode" when the headlights are on? (black background)

Thanks, I'll take the switch links. Might as well make this a problems AND solutions thread! (Yes, night mode is fine, but sometimes you want darker than night mode)

I saw this thread and came here to post your #1. WTF guys. You illuminate EVERY SINGLE BUTTON in the interior. Except the ones that we really need to see in the dark.

I hate how if you go into the Phone or Audio, the screen then stays on and turns on the map. As if I needed a map screen to get home on my daily commute. There needs to be a simple "Screen off" button.

Why does any DTC code cause it to disable TRAC and 4LO, and make the 4LO light flash? Makes things look much worse than they really are.

Here's the switch kit for the liftgate: Cruiser Outfitters

Amazon momentary switch

OEM switch, but you'll also need the bezel to mount it:

Cruiser Outfitters:

The seats in my 2020 Cruiser could be more comfortable for a $90,000 truck.

LX has accent interior lighting adjacent to front map lights. Cruiser map console has the cutouts but blanks are installed. Curious if these can easily be added....??

Ok that’s dumb
Theft protection I think.

Regarding the lights, after a while you get a good feel for it and muscle memory does the rest; but not before accidentally pressing Lexus Link about 30 times. I do wonder if Lexus link can remotely turn on your spot light for you.

No idea if it's just my vintage, but the way the doors lock...

So if there is a key in the car (e.g. wife leaving her purse in the vehicle), trying to lock via the door handles doesn't work (even though I have my key on me). You have to press the lock button on the fob to lock the car- that's annoying enough, but coming back to the car it can only be unlocked by pressing the button fob (door handle buttons won't work).

I get it's to make sure you don't lock your keys in the car, but seems dumb when there is clearly another set of keys in proximity to the handles.

Hand washing the LC with a fob in the car or in your pocket and the associated bizarre things that start happening...doors lock and unlock, beeps, mirrors folding and unfolding. This is my first vehicle where I have to set the key fob 30 feet away when I wash it.

The auto shut off is the dumbest thing in the world. My altima, and pilot both continue to run when I get in and hit the start button. Feels like double the wear on the starter in the lc. Also the key fob is a total fail.

My previous Touareg was much worse about this, having a capacitive button to lock the doors vs a physical contact button.

The garage door buttons located on the rear view mirror. When I hit the button I sometimes move the rear view mirror out of whack. Stupid.

the center console storage sucks.

Try putting your fingers on top of the mirror housing and use your thumb to squeeze the button. That way you put equal pressure on the top and bottom of the mirror and avoid moving it.
