1.On my 200 I hated that the bumpers were integrated into the body like a damn minivan. My front and rear ARB bumpers always looked like they didn’t belong, like I was doing a force override on Toyota. Which is exactly what was happening. On my 80’s and 100’s they looked like they Should have come from the factory that way.

2. Time-locked into 2004ish technology with the head unit

3. No factory locker option

4. Early warning light to refuel made it seem like there was an 18 gallon tank under there

5. Above all, screw you Toyota for only offering the fully loaded champagne and caviar edition cruisers in the US. Great move there. So in a country that owns 60% of the world’s off-road vehicles we only get a few thousand cruisers a year, then you looked and decided we don’t want nice things here, so we can’t have them in the future, and we get to fight over the few we have left.

6. Also, I love you Toyota, please don’t be mad. I only drive your vehicles. Constructive feedback!

1. The way the 2nd row folds up and is stored. Wish this was more like my 3rd gen 4runner.

2. A/C controls built into head unit.

3. Traction\stability control can't be turned off while moving.

When I bought mine in 2010, a major disappointment was finding out they did away with the removable third row seats like I had in my 100 series. A minute to take them out for more cargo space, same to replace them for more passengers. Very handy then as I have three sons, always with friends along for the ride.

Seriously? Complaining about the stock bumpers? Fan speed through the Nav unit? (Arguably one of be most reliable in any vehicle on the market). Leather and other options necessary to get the people that can afford the high price for the underlying quality to actually consider them?

You people do realize they have to sell these things in automotive markets around the world where normal people will actually consider buying them, or it’s not even an option for you.

Wow - I have to say the only thing I can think to complain about, and it really took me a while to find something, was the fact that it doesn't have 750 miles of range like I would like. Other than that, for the last 5 years my 200 has been perfect. Guess I'll need to keep driving it for another 15 years so I can find something to complain about.

Huh? I'm just saying it would be nice to have a button to control the fan speed. I did not say it was unreliable or that I didn't like the vehicle. And...I'm definitely at a loss to see how having said buttons would impact Toyota's ability to "sell them in markets around the world".

I guess your saying the Nav unit is arguably the most reliable on the market? I have never seen a study on Nav unit reliability ratings, I didn't know there was even a debate about it. If I mis interpreted your post I welcome an education. I did have to make some assumptions as to what it is your trying to say.

Finally I consider myself pretty normal...not sure where your trying to go with that one?? Maybe your-saying that since we "complain" were abnormal here on MUD?
In years of reading here many people’s issue with the lack of dedicated fan speed buttons is they think they’ll lose the ability to adjust the climate control if/when the nav system s***s the bed. My point is that is very unlikely. As for people that can’t be bothered into two button presses vs one for fan speed adjustments.. I don’t really have much to say.
Toyota has to design the dash in a way that is functional for the vast majority of their customers, and in the current auto market, especially in this price range, people have come to expect a well-functioning automatic climate system. Which is exactly what this is. Most people set it and forget it and don’t need to fiddle with the fan speed, so why add complexity and clutter to a dash with buttons that so few people would ever use? If your response is that such and such vehicle always had one.. has toyota? As a company there are design themes and if you hate this one so much go compromise on something that won’t last one third as long to get your buttons.

While I think complaining about minor aspects of a vehicle we chose to buy is annoying I’m not saying not to do it, I would ask that people maybe consider why toyota made the decisions they did.

If something is a pet peeve to you, and you honestly think the majority of NEW 200-series buyers would be annoyed by that.. you probably have some ground to stand on and toyota should consider that. But I don’t think this is a newsflash to anyone.. toyota isn’t reading this thread. Keep whining about no lockers on a vehicle that has 99.9% of its miles racked up to and from a mall. Or bumpers that look strange when you cut them up to install aftermarket replacements. IMO most of this thread is totally ridiculous.

Why so salty?

A thread dedicated to whining about minor annoyances in a tech forum? Should be pretty obvious.

This is a community of land cruiser enthusiasts. Not everyone drives off road, not everyone is as savvy as others, not everyone has the same vehicle requirements.

Nobody is buying new 80 series anymore. They are purchased to modify and use for their intended purposE which is why the 80 series forum may be more technical.

There are lots of new owners here who enjoy the conversation on different topics. I suspect in 20 years the 200 forum may be as technical as the 80 one currently is.

Until then, you’re going to have to live with the fact there are people like me who have 2 200s that have yet to see a gravel road and like to complain about useless cup holders, usb ports, and button placement. As an owner of $90,000 vehicles - I have a right to be a little discerning about certain things.

lastly - you didn’t have to click on the thread to begin with.

This is true, but it would still contribute to burying the actual tech further into the barely searchable abyss that is this section. Also the cup holder complaints were a running joke in the 80-series section.. and I appreciate that. But you must admit that whining about how the bumpers look after you choose to cut them up pretty much defines ridiculous.

There is a chit chat section for a reason. Unless people are posting these gripes in hopes for a technical solution posted by others, I don’t see how it is constructive to the goals of this section at all.

You’re one aux tank away from that 750+ mile range you want. One of the reasons we are jumping onto this platform is the aftermarket modifications... seems like anything is possible.

have you considered the implication of rear end collision with the aux tank installed? I would love to get one but just afraid.

I hate how if you go into the Phone or Audio, the screen then stays on and turns on the map. As if I needed a map screen to get home on my daily commute. There needs to be a simple "Screen off" button.
There is a simple setting in the menu of the Nav unit to toggle this off. It used to drive me crazy as well. Now it stays on whatever page you last selected.

Two words: "tech forum".

I Have a couple...

- I would say the hand washing "chaos" when the key in your pocket.
- The one that surprises me the most is the lack of one touch turn signals. My 2015 Silverado has this, why cant the LC.
- The rain channel guards (?) flying off at 75 mph. Happened to me this weekend with 3k miles on it.
- The gas mileage is a pet peeve but I knew it going in. All in all, this is still the best vehicle Ive ever had and love it.
