I Have a couple...

- I would say the hand washing "chaos" when the key in your pocket.
- The one that surprises me the most is the lack of one touch turn signals. My 2015 Silverado has this, why cant the LC.
- The rain channel guards (?) flying off at 75 mph. Happened to me this weekend with 3k miles on it.
- The gas mileage is a pet peeve but I knew it going in. All in all, this is still the best vehicle Ive ever had and love it.
- The chaos issue is definitely annoying but also happens with all of my other cars as well. I leave the key inside when I wash anything.
- The rain channel trim issue is a pain in the butt but seems to be limited to the LX570s. My LX did it all the time, from the day the Lexus dealer washed it for delivery to me - driving, car washes, windy day, any opportunity. None of my LCs have ever done it. One of the many reasons why I sold the LX and bought another LC.

You’re one aux tank away from that 750+ mile range you want. One of the reasons we are jumping onto this platform is the aftermarket modifications... seems like anything is possible.
Yep - I installed a 90L / 25 gallon aux tank. Given some safety issues where I occasionally drive, I am considering the new 180L / ~50 gallon tank. That would give me almost 1100 miles of range while not exceeding my payload limits.

Seriously? Complaining about the stock bumpers? Fan speed through the Nav unit? (Arguably one of be most reliable in any vehicle on the market). Leather and other options necessary to get the people that can afford the high price for the underlying quality to actually consider them?

You people do realize they have to sell these things in automotive markets around the world where normal people will actually consider buying them, or it’s not even an option for you.

I don’t even understand your attitude a little. Is your argument that Father Toyota knows best, and whatever they did, I’m sure there was a good reason for it, just be grateful for the privilege of owning a 200? Because that’s how it comes across.

Clearly they didn’t nail it on these across the board. Even if they weren’t going to be discontinued here, they’re not setting any sales records. And referencing normal people in markets around the world reinforces the concept that only offering it in the $90k package makes it *not* accessible.

I owned a built 200, these are the things that bothered me. I replaced it with a new tundra and a built 100. Wish I could be happy with the 200, would love to have just one vehicle. It’s okay for people to have complaints.

Hand washing the LC with a fob in the car or in your pocket and the associated bizarre things that start happening...doors lock and unlock, beeps, mirrors folding and unfolding. This is my first vehicle where I have to set the key fob 30 feet away when I wash it.
Had to do this with an Audi.

Same issue with all the modern cars in our little fleet - Toyota, Lexus, Subaru, Volvo, Bentley, and BMW.

When I bought mine in 2010, a major disappointment was finding out they did away with the removable third row seats like I had in my 100 series. A minute to take them out for more cargo space, same to replace them for more passengers. Very handy then as I have three sons, always with friends along for the ride.
Once you know how to do it, it only takes a few minutes to pop the seats in and out. Most time consuming task is popping the plastic trim pieces off. Pretty much the same as my 100.

and the tilt out rear quarter windows.
I had those on my 100 series and man do I ever miss those. I used to run the fan to bring in fresh air and exhaust out the rear. This worked better than leaving them closed and relying on the rear side vents.

But I think my biggest and probably only peeve is with the startup screens.
Do we really need a Toyota logo AND a cautionary screen before we get the NAV or HOME screen? REALLY???

I'm assuming that this is all driven by computer.
Years ago in another life I used to program computers using raw machine code.
I wonder how hard it would be to patch the executable image with an instruction to branch around whatever is loading these screens.
Or maybe they're just provided as filler delays while the system boots and skipping them wouldn't speed things up at all.
Worse, maybe the image is stored in the type of memory (PROM) that you can't flash/erase and it's hopeless without the ability to also burn a chip.
Nit picking rant off.

At least the disclaimer screen eventually times out and goes away. My '05 ES330 had factory Nav, and you had to hit the "I Agree" to get it to go away. Every. Single. Time. But it was better about staying dark, as the screen only did audio & Nav duties, no BT or phone stuff, no HVAC.

I thought there was a way to load your own logo. Never tried it though.

Haha! Great comments. I almost forgot about the turn signals...WTF? After replacing the rain channel rubber strips/guards 3 times I finally installed them using 3M VHB tape. Gas mileage does suck but hey its cheap right now and besides my wifes Highlander gets 20mpg to my 16. Not a huge penalty considering the power and weight.

This is a community of land cruiser enthusiasts. Not everyone drives off road, not everyone is as savvy as others, not everyone has the same vehicle requirements.

Nobody is buying new 80 series anymore. They are purchased to modify and use for their intended purposE which is why the 80 series forum may be more technical.

There are lots of new owners here who enjoy the conversation on different topics. I suspect in 20 years the 200 forum may be as technical as the 80 one currently is.

Until then, you’re going to have to live with the fact there are people like me who have 2 200s that have yet to see a gravel road and like to complain about useless cup holders, usb ports, and button placement. As an owner of $90,000 vehicles - I have a right to be a little discerning about certain things.

lastly - you didn’t have to click on the thread to begin with.
Me too! I roll bone stock and have no desire to modify anything. I visit the forum to learn and share info with other LC owners. Too bad there is not a sub forum for those of us that couldn't care less about "the largest tires I can fit on my LC", Lift kits, shocks etc. But since there isn't the "technical" forum will have to do.

Fortunately I’m not concerned with whether people understand my attitude or not.
Said simply: this is complaining, not tech.
These things have substantial issues. KDSS valve corrosion, radiator failure, water pump.. these would be tough to explain given the build quality we have grown to expect. Toyota’s decision not to add a button to the dash that 3% of buyers want doesn’t need much explaining. So why whine about it?

Now THAT would be interesting. I'd simply put in an image of something I would enjoy looking at. I can think of numerous possibilities.😈

Actually this is the first vehicle in my lifetime of vehicle ownership that doesnt have a fan speed button. It is a glaring omission despite your 3 percent WAG on who cares if its missing. The LX 570 has them. Based on your theory of making the vehicle appeal to folks buying 80k plus vehicles by burying the fan control in the head unit software it would appear that Toyota missed the mark on their most luxurious 200 series offering.

This just in: different people have different needs, wants, uses, priorities and even... opinions! Tune in for more at 6. ;)

Hey they had to give LX buyers something for the extra money.. 2hp wasn’t enough. So.. More dash buttons!

Yes, complaining not tech. Valid argument. Stick to that rather than saying peoples complaints aren’t justified.

i used to complain about the auto HVAC in my 100. Then I embraced it, and now I love it. IMO its the best auto HVAC ive ever experienced.
back to gripes-
-the 210 mile range sucks. give me a 30 gal factory tank.
-telling me im at empty when i have 4 gallons left sucks. they should fix that.
-I want carplay
-I want blind spot warnings in side view mirror.

Seriously, if these are the biggest problems, then this truck is darn near perfect. Radiator issues? KDSS issues? childs play to the problems I faced in with the chevy 5.3 and bmw V8's.

My 5.3 drank a quart of oil every 1k miles at 70k miles. uncontrollable shaking at stop lights. wiring harnesses catching fire. on a 5 year old truck.

BMW- VCG, plastic timing chain guides, oil leaks, high pressure radiator. the list goes on and on.

When my radiator popped at 300k miles on my 100, you know what happened? nothing. faint smell of antifreeze. drove to my tech 20 miles away for a radiator swap. good for another 300k miles. Love Mr. T's products. they are drama free...

Truthfully I have no idea whether I have those buttons or not in my LX. I will have to make a concentrated effort to look for them the next time I'm in the car. I've definitely seen them in the touch-screen, but physical buttons? Hmm...

The only button I'm truly lacking is ejecto-seato!

I make this point a lot. For the significant issues we do have at least we know what to expect and can easily monitor things. Whereas most other vehicles it’s a total crap shoot what will fail next.

That said I consider a near-100% failure rate on pre-late-2018 radiators by ~150k miles unacceptable. But I’m sure others have seen me debate this before... I’ll gladly take that over exactly what you describe with nearly anything else, plus the new part seems to have been updated to address the issue.

The later 16+ LX's have direct fan speed adjustments, the earlier ones did not. 16+ have a different a different HVAC paradigm with climate concierge.

Sometimes it depends on how the designer expects one to use the vehicle. Probably assumes most people will leave it on "Auto" and never have to touch a button.

Humans are pretty adaptable species. Perhaps we'll just live and learn the character of our cars, and enjoy relationship. My better half probably would like a passenger controlled eject for my drivers seat. She'd still like some improvement but has mostly adapted to both the car and my shortcomings. :steer:
