This sounds like it is right up my alley,,, but then again food beer and good times near the coast,,, what could be better!

Please keep us up to date, I will need plenty of time to make this happen.

Yeah, that's it! We had a blast there. Real friendly people who own it too... Do you have connections?

I called and left a message to see how much it would cost. Do you guys have any dates in mind that I could check availability.

The KOA sounds cool, but not sure how they are with drinking.

I've never checked out the Kicking Horse, but would be glad to look into it. I only stay a couple of miles away from both so it isn't a problem.

The wife and I are really up for this. We love the beach at that time of year
and usually make a point of an Oct beach trip. It's time for Yodel to
make a trip to the beach again. This time behind Coach...not Gundy. :hillbilly:

David thanks for the bump. Updated the first post. We are on.

Members only ? Where do I sign ? :D

Just saw the "road trip possibility" thread on the subject, and posted there, but I'll repeat myself here.;)

I used to live in Beaufort, on Lady's Island. If you haven't been to Hunting Island before, it's gorgeous !

It's actually my favorite beach on the east coast, and I've seen most of 'em, south of Va.

IH8-crowded beaches. No tourist traps, just big live oaks and palmettos, right at the sand. Good beach fishing late summer,to boot :)

I've been interested in taking a trip down there to show my wife, as long as we've been married. This might be a good excuse for me.

I'd be willing to join UC, just for this trip alone ! :D

Talked it over with the Pres. As long as you a member of TLCA or club that is part of TLCA your invited. Of course being a member of UC is only $15 a year. Your allowed to have one person with you that is not part of UC, TLCA or another TLCA club.

Sounds good ! Thanks.

Wow. Thanks and cannot wait. Looking forward to meeting you and your son. Looks like this will be a surf and turf event.

It's on my calendar now, Labor Day Weekend right? The prime home grown Kansas steaks and the Hunting Island venue sealed the deal. Maybe I can get my little Whaler operable in time to help with the shrimping.
I need to learn to throw a cast net.

Any driveable beaches around there? I've been wanting to do some sand wheeling ever since I bought Bonnie. I had a lot of fun in the Empty Quarter in a 454 Blazer, a 4X4 Hilux and on a Suzuki TS400.

Last time I tried sand I had to have my old 535 Bimmer towed off the north end of Carolina beach. Man that sand is FINE. I got a little too slow and bogged to the floorboards :bang:

I checked the cabins and they all seem reserved- Can you guys recommend anyplace close by? I will have my wife and 2 girls so we need a cabin/hotel.

Did you call the park office. Or just go online?

I was gonna mention that I have a fair bit of experience with a cast net/shrimping if I could be of service. The thought crossed my mind to bring my boat and find someone to steer, while I throw. But either way.:)

It's a shame that my uncle just passed away last year...... He was a Beaufort crabber, and I could have gotten all the seafood for next to nothing . :frown:

Along those lines I "grew up" crabbing, fishing, shrimping, and tonging/shucking oysters. All of my dads family were Chesapeake waterman. If anyone needs a hand catching, preparing, or cooking the seafood, I'd be more than happy to help ! Particularly steaming blue crabs. It's more of an art, to do it right, than many people know. But, I'm sure you've got some "old hands" already. ;)

This is a really exciting trip for me ! I've already mentioned it to my wife. We've literally been talking about a Hunting Island trip for six years, and haven't gotten around to it !

would a fella do better getting a cabin by calling?...oh hell i don't need a cabin i have an OZTent i bought from alf...it is a really sweet tent....hey...what kinda bugs you guys got over there?....hmmm maybe a cabin...

Not sure I understand, you are talking about cooking on fri. and sat. night but the dates are for sun.-tues.? What should we reserve for this event, weekend plus mon. and tues.? If the main events are going to be mon. and tues. that will rule me out as my wife is a school teacher. I hope I am confused because this seems like a really nice event.

Woops typo.
3rd-5th.

Just called. Looks like a 7 night stay required for cabins. Doubt anyone wants to do that. Will get some infor on places close by for those not wanting to camp.

Thanks for the clarification Marshall. It would be to much to haul the camper down just for the weekend, and too bad cabins are for a week. I'll have to see if I can talk the wife into the tent for the weekend, if not it'll probably be me and my son. He will be 1 1/2 by then and I should be able to manage him by then.

We are actually looking at spending a week down there this summer with the camper. I have never been here, but it looks like the nicest state park in SC.

If you have to buy any seafood for the event, it will be higher this early in the season. But I know of a place in McClellanville that sells at really good prices. I would be glad to stop and pick some up on the way down if you need me too. I am sure there are plenty of wholesale places in Beaufort, I just know these guys.
