Sorry. No the 6V factory camera did not work. I installed a new HD camera and love the clarity. Bought a second one to mount up front.

how many cameras can you run? I was thinking of doing a baby cam.

Many thanks to @BigLittle and the other significant contributors here!

I got in on the recent group buy and am installing a PX6 into my 2003 LC...and have hit a snag. I reached out to Rhino Radio, but haven't heard much back from them (other than acknowledging my inquiry), so thought I'd post up here.

Tried to power up as is...nothing. No response from the screen at all. My guess is I simply have the wrong harness, so might have to wait to hear back from Rhino... Any inputs or advice would be appreciated!

Problem 1: Pins don't match

The connectors connect, but after looking a bit closer, the wires on one side don't connect with those on the other
tesla2.mov

Problem 2: No home for this factory connector

The supplied harness doesn't have anywhere for this connector to connect

Here's where it went in the original unit

Problem 3: Maybe not an actual problem

Seems like a strangely large number of connectors on the supplied harness with nowhere to go

I can’t remember for sure, but I believe I had three unused connectors. Please check the guide. I know for sure one of the ones in your picture is for auxiliary antenna and I cut that one out to save space. Check your harness to be sure before cutting it out though.

Pretty sure the connector in the middle and the connector on the bottom in that group you show need to be connected

I suggest you check out the 2003 Cruiser radio thread to see if the cables match up with your radio. You may need the premium cable kit. Please report back on what you find so we can help others.

@perrobravo

You have a 2003 that is pre fl, or whatever you want to call it that has the 4 connectors for the upper screen. Where as the later 03 to 07 only have 3.

The 40 pin plug in your pic is the main ac amp plug a45.
The one right under that, the one with the bigger and smaller pins in the same housing is the main screen plug in the late 03 to 07 versions, m6. (Biggest connector in your pic) which you don't have.

The other three are not native to an LC or LX.
You are the second person I've seen with a four connector nav unit in a 2003.
I don't see a fix for that except starting over.
Sorry to say that.

IF Anyone that has replaced their unit with one of these Tesla screens would mind loaning (and potentially selling) me their OEM MFD unit, please PM me.

I have an 04 LX and I am getting the "external system disconnected" intermittent lockout. I know about many of the issues (mainly solder joint) that cause this and since the guy who normally repairs the units in Canada is retiring/not taking US jobs anymore, I want to try a simple swap to see if it is in fact the MFD. Using a known working MFD is the fastest way to check (I have a new baby at home so don't have tons of time to spend chasing wires, plus this is my wife's car.). If it is the unit, there is a shop near my in-laws house in Greenville, SC that is going to do solder repair and I need a working unit to confirm all is working. Or if you simply don't want yours anymore I'll buy it from you (assuming it works). Happy to pay shipping/etc.

PM me please.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming (PS Nice work Big Little...if I ever end up switching cars with my wife and want to make the upgrade, I'm definitely circling back to this write-up).

Are any of these pictures from your truck?

You will need cable #3 which in the guide is referred to as TS3.

Hello @BigLittle
Attached are the pictures from my truck’s OEM harness. It does not come with cable # 3 or TS3.
Any idea what needs to be done? Can’t figure it out.

Thank You!

Not sure I can help with this one. I have not seen this plug missing before on a factory harness.

Who did you buy the radio from? I suggest trying them for direct help.
The rep I dealt with on AliExpress wasn't very helpful, but they responded quickly to inquiries. I have heard of others getting factory support during their installs to work out the bugs.

For the install with HVAC I understand that all touchscreen cables need to be connected, the CanBus decoder is installed and the radio is powered. All other cables seem to be for radio functions and accessories. A ZhiFang wiring diagram would be great to help trace down oddities like this. Maybe you can find a 2006 Toyota factory radio/touchscreen wiring diagram and we can work out the cable issue.

PM me a few pictures of the plugs you have as unused.

I just finished installing the PX6 model into my 07 lx470 and everything is working ie heat/ac (front & rear), sound, etc but the four physical buttons aren't working. When I press them nothing happens but they do light up when the headlights are turned on. I believe their touchscreen counterparts are indeed working. The volume is way too loud too. I hope I don't have to reconnect my stock unit and lower the volume and connect the new unit back. Any ideas?

Here's one for you. was changing a setting last night and the system hung up. Rebooted it and I lost HVAC controls and my car launcher settings reset, ie KMh instad of MPH and all the pinned apps were gone.

this morning, got HVAC controls working, but now the screen is upside down. tried changing a bunch of stuff in install set and user settings, but can't get it to flip over. Also tried recalibrating screen. Any ideas?

Thanks
Mike

@BigLittle,

Thanks for your help and dedication. I bought the system from a person who guaranteed it worked perfectly when installed in his 2006 LX. I have been talking with Stefan from Navihua (one of the suppliers) in China about this situation but no solution has come until now.

The 5 cables that are unused are the ones held in the attached picture, one of them corresponds to the one that goes connected with Cable 3 which my car’s OEM harness does not have.
My rear A/C works perfectly when operated directly with the rear control, unfortunately the A/C controls in the screen show the temperature left in the OEM screen but nothing can be changed.

May something in the screen itself be wrong?

In the advaced configuration the system is as “Land Cruiser HI” and “BR with A/C” mode.

Is this the correct configuration? Something else should be changed in the software configuration?

Thank You!

Sounds like a wiring issue. I’m pretty sure you need the missing connection on your harness.

I haven’t played with the system locked configuration settings at all yet. So if there’s someone out there with more experience in this matter please share.

if I pull my radio out in the next few weeks (doubtful) I’ll try the plug removed and report back. if there is someone doing this install soon can test it please let us know what you find

How did you got your HAVC controls working again? Maybe you could help me.

Thank You

What volume did you set your stock system to before removing it?

has anyone had the new backup camera they wired sending a "reverse" image on the screen? I tried looking for a setting to flip the image but couldn't find anything

@BigLittle thank you! Will appreciate it if possible.

For example I have seen that if you disconnect cable 1 nothing happens.

Stephan from Navihua is telling me that he thinks the unit has a problem and is looking to sell me the PX6 which he says will surely work in my truck and if not he will return me the money including the shipping costs of sending it back to him.

What do you think about the unit having a problem and Stephans proposal?

Before buying a new unit and spending US$530 I prefer trying everything with the old unit but nothing seems to make it work.
