As someone with your background and intimate knowledge of the 200 beef, how does the 250 compare where it matters (frame/suspension/drivetrain)?
I've only poked around a little bit, but here are my initial thoughts.

Most of the frame, rear axle housing and suspension arms looks pretty robust.

Front diff and tie rods looks tiny.

Front crossmember isn't fully boxed in like the 200, so I'll probably need to tie into the recovery point locations to make something that can support the weight of the vehicle.

Another issue is the distance from the front rear suspension crossmember to the transmission crossmember, the distance is a lot more than the 200. I'll need to make some pretty robust supports in that area to support the weight too.

Some other things I noticed:
The SDM actuator rotates with the sway bar
Front brake calipers looked pretty big, maybe bigger than the 16+ 200 calipers.
Motor mounts look to be active mounts, they have vacuum lines running to them.
Cat is well tucked up between the body and frame, out the way from thieves.

This was a replacement vehicle for the wife's Rav4 TRD, not my lx570.
I was able to fully flex it out today, no rubbing with 275-70r18 KO3s.

This is a bit of a geeky/pedantic question (but boy are we in the appropriate thread for it :p) for the new owners like @ridgway and @turbo8 @Zill @doanlaw etc;

can you comment on the performance/output of the new LED headlights across both models? Is the temp relatively warm (~5300K) and do enjoy the driving experience? Really hope Toyota hasn't stuck these 250's with those harsh Tesla-style LED's. They suck for long night roadtrips (eye fatigue) and are pretty blinding to others.

I've got the 1958, so the round headlights. I come from an LR4 where I replaced the headlights with euro-code housings and was running Osram HID bulbs in them.

Lights on the 1958 seem good to me. Very good cut off. Color temperature seems pretty good. Not too white. Plenty bright for city driving. Haven't had it out in the country, yet.

Have you ever driven the 2016+ 200 series? The LED lights are comparable to that hue and brightness. It’s a white light for sure, but not annoying to my eye.

You can swap the fog lights over to yellow (with a simple button press) instead of white if the white light bothers you. I suspect I will be doing that in snow drivings conditions.

Oh that's neat feature - probably comes from the partnership with one of those aftermarket light companies (Rigid?).

Is that a FE or a 1958? I see the colored blocks on the front, but not the roof rack.
FE, they removed the rack in another post.

I saw the 250 for the first time yesterday.
Nice vehicle but its no 300.
Why am I comparing it to a 300?
It starts cheaper yes but some trim levels are identically priced to 300s and some overlap and more expensive than the the base/mid 300s.
Sorry but for the money and if you see both side by side in real life its a no brainer.
One feels like an actual LC the other feels like a 4 door Fj cruiser.

Yes I know the bones are more land cruiser than ever but I'm just telling you what I felt from the perspective of someone who owned a base 300 that's cheaper than many 250s...
Also I know the dimensions are similar but the body of the 250 definitely looks smaller. Inside they aren't too far off. The feeling of the body outside being smaller may give you the illusion it's smaller inside but it's almost the same.

Everyone keeps saying this is more similar to land cruisers of old but i didnt feel that. It's retro inspired but that 60 series/80/100/200 flagship Dna/grandeur/ best that Toyota has to offer feeling is inherited by the 300. Seeing a 250 in real life doesn't give you that same 'TOP of the LINE' LC factor. Yes the 250 has a more interesting design but it does not have the presence of the 300. So when you price them almost the same and overlap them, why would I pick the E class over the S class?
Again I know the 250 isn't supposed to be the flagship but when it's priced more than the flagship in some trim levels then id never pick it over a 300.
Also, the aluminum body panels of the 300 definitely felt lighter but the 300 also felt better built and tighter overall, lifting that non back power door in 250 vs 300 is a noticeable difference.

Yeah - for those who’ve got a choice between buying the 250 or 300, the 300 seems to be the better option.
But in several countries, (including USA) the 250 is all we’ve got.

Can’t comment to the lights other than it’s the first factory Toyota LED’s i’ve owned and seem plenty adequate but the 4 banger is starting to grow on me, driving it back to back with 200 it feels every bit as torquey as the 200, maybe more so in the sub 2k range…and that whistle sounds really cool😉

You are not imagining it, it is real. The 2.4 iForce Max powertrain makes 465 lb.-ft @ 1700rpm. The 3UR 5.7L makes 401 lb.-ft @ 3600rpm.

That 2.4 makes big block levels of torque, basically similar torque at a lower RPM than my 8.1L Vortec in my K2500 Surburban. With the benefit of way more gears too.

Also, the 250 is close to a 1000lbs lighter than the 200 series.
