The new brackets have arrived.

Once Scheel-Mann and Planted Technology confirmed that I had received the “tall” brackets by mistake, they pulled out all the stops to get me the correct ones ASAP.

The new brackets are about 2.5 inches lower.

The first time I got in, I was a little surprised at how low I was sitting. It was not uncomfortably low, mind you - just surprising (maybe because I had been riding on the “tall” brackets?).

That said, it is also what I think is the perfect height, at least for me at 6’1”. It may even be slightly lower than the factory seats, which I think is an unexpected bonus. Attaching a photo of the “tall” bracket, first, followed by two photos of the new one.

Now I just need to sort out the wiring for the airbag. My local shop was unable to hook up the supplied bypass (I think it was a little too much for them).

Thanks for the update

Curious, with the lower brackets you have now, is there anymore room underneath to go lower?

I ask because you mention these MIGHT be lower than stock height.

One of the reasons I’m considering the Scheelmans is to lower my seat height at least an inch.

Thanks

Sorry I’m so slow getting back to this. The possibility of my truck being totaled has basically taken all of my attention lately.

Today in Colorado I had Figs Engineerng transplant the sensors from my stock seats to the Scheel-Mann seats. Airbags are now functional again and the plethora of warning lights are gone. A shoutout to Mike, the owner, for getting me in and getting my airbags up to snuff again.

He also went ahead and fixed the “old” warning light from when I removed my second row. I think the black tape on the dash was bugging him 😎.

If you need anything done on a LC or LX, Mike can do it. He also said he may be fabricating his own brackets in the future, so if you want one that’s lower than those sold by Planted Technologies, he may be able to do it. I am VERY impressed with his work.

One thing we discovered today: I bought the new “Klima” model seat with the ventilation and I didn’t feel that mine were blowing any air. This even though I could hear the motor running. Mike thinks the motor could be underpowered, so I’m going to reach out to SM and see if any other customers have had issues. He also said it could be the type of seat covering. The leather seats come with perforated holes. I wanted cloth seats, which don’t have holes. I guess the assumption was that air would pass easily enough through the cloth without holes. However, the cloth is woven super tight, almost like a ballistic-grade cloth. That may be what’s keeping the air from moving through. More on that once I connect with SM.

Apologies for the rudimentary measurement. I also did it with an app , but it was difficult to keep it steady. I think it’s closer to 3” than 3.5”, as you can tell from my unsteady hand. I’m on the road and don’t have a regular tape measure handy.
