Did you get the fixed length or adjustable lower control arms?

On the adjustable ones, any idea what the adjustability range is: i.e.,

Is the shortest length less than or equal to the stock length?

How any cm/inches can they be extended?

Fixed length. I measured my stock ones center to center and he made them exact same length.
As to how far they can adjust, i am not sure. I will shoot him a PM to jump in here and answer that.

I'll have some pictures of them up after i get the uppers installed as well.

I think fixed length is the way to go unless you really know what your doing, know someone who does or are prepared to make some additional modifications due to adjustment. I've been there and it was a huge pain in the azz.

What is the problem with shortening them 1/2 or 1/4 inch? I was wondering if that would help keep my 35's from making contact with the slee rear bumper...

(Sorry for hijack, happy to take topic elsewhere...)

Layonn,

Looking forward to your impressions on the fixed lca. They look stout in the pics.

It would change the pinion angle in the rear. Which could cause excessive u-joint where and vibrations. There is a fine balance from what I know.

send me a pm and I'll do my best to remember the issues..

Great build and everything your doing is on my wish list!

The lowers that Layton installed are fixed length. I am also making him a set of fixed length uppers. Both to match stock length.

Both uppers and lowers are also available in an adjustable variety as well.

I generally build the adjustable links 1/4" shorter than stock when adjusted fully in.

The useable adjustment range is about an inch.

Just to see the difference..I removed one of my LCAs and laid it next to my FJC/4runner aftermarket All Pro LCAs. The stock Land Cruiser LCAs were about a half inch or so longer.

It should be a no brainer to buy the adjustable ones and match them to the OEM length and then mount them. Am I missing something? Layton, just curious why you chose fixed vs. adjustable, was it strength?

The fixed length set sells for $285.00, the adjustable varient is $360.00 for the pair. Some people feel they require adjustable, others do not. Just a matter of preference.

Cheaper for one, and i don't have much of a need for them being adjustable. I'd rather just direct replacements.

Allows me to save some money for other goodies like Radflo shocks, ARBs, and gears

Coming along great Layton!

Lee! How you been? Miss you over on the blue forum. Hope everything has been well. Are you planning on making it to the Jamboree in April?

Sounds good, I am going with the same radio, also. Nice tip on that.

Doing great Layton, thanks. I bought an FJ60 and I've been having fun playing with it, tweaking it a little. The only time I go the blue forum at all is if I get an email notification of a PM there - I still get requests for mechanical help. Jamboree is going to be tough for me this year, April is not good for some family stuff/issues coming up. I did register for the Roundup in March but not even sure I can make that now either. :( Hope to see out on the trail one of these times though Layton.

This is a pretty sweet build and a very similar direction, albeit at a much slower pace, as I'd like to go with mine. Awesome thread, love the pics.

On another note, what would you need longer LCA's for? What would be the benefit of being able to adjust them or when would you need to do that? Seems like you can already get quite a bit more travel by just adding the N74L shocks without needing longer LCAs so...

Very nice. A physicist i work with just got a FJ62 rebuilt for him from a cruiser shop in Austin. It is very clean. Im going to Superlift mid February with a group from here. Then have the Jamboree. Sometime between those two i need to get my gears and lockers installed.
Definitely have to try and meet up on the trails soon.

Thanks Dallascrzr.

I didn't get longer rear lower links. I got fixed length, same length as OEM, just beefier and with a johnny joint on one end for easier axle articulation. Making them longer or shorter will change the position of the wheel in the wheel well as well as change the pinion angle. I have heard some folks contacting their slee rear bumpers with 35s on compression. So shortening the rear link might help reduce that problem.

A inch of adjustment isn't going to lead to a lot more articulation. Longer links do allow for more suspension droop, but you'd need to redesign the link mounts and have significantly longer links, no 1 inch longer to actually gain anything.
But yes, you can gain more travel out of the rear by using the OME Ls. I just don't like OME shocks after running them on two separate vehicles.

Sounds good, I am going with the same radio, also. Nice tip on that.

Its a pretty good headunit for the price.
I use google maps for navigating so i don't need that from a headunit.
Video playback from the iPhone is pretty good. It also plays YouTube and Netflix on the screen. I think those are the only two you can stream and play via the headunit. Hulu, Crackle, and other video apps don't seem to work. They do transmit the audio from all apps, just not the video.

I wasn't too sure i "needed" the titling screen. Since i have had it, i have not once had the screen completely flat. It is so much easier to see when titled slightly.

The removable face is nice for security.

Quick update.
Got winch installed. Custom made a bracket to hold it on one of the lower light tabs on the ARB. Also relocated my light bar to the upper light tabs but hanging down, so its still under the upper bar.

Also got Hardline fabrication services links and Radflo 2.5" rears, and MAF longer sway bar links installed.

The 100 got dropped off yesterday to get the 4.88s and front and rear ARBs installed. SHould be back in a day or two.

My wheeling time in the spring and summer slows down a lot for wakeboarding and wakeboard trips. So there probably won't be too many wheeling pics for the next few months :)

Nice job Layton!

I would be interested to get your opinon on the alu hawse you have and how it works for you as I have the same bumper on order and have been told that if you are winching at extreme angles the rope could touch the bumper so you need to space out the hawse.

Yours does not seem to be spaced out to the point a std roller and cable would be to clear the bumper.

Does your front number plate just clip on and off?

Hope this makes sense.
