I bought what I feel is the smallest acceptable core from bell intercoolers and am going to try and get it in the build. Space is a premium under the hood and it's all about packaging. I used that particular compressor because of it's physical size. And that is pretty much the rule for everything in this build.
I like where this is going. I have the supercharger with 2.8” pulley and the power is great. I’ve been running fine with the 2.8” pulley without an intercooler for the last 15k miles but would like extra insurance to protect the motor for long term reliability.
The question is, will your intercooler application be universal enough to work with the Magnuson or TRD SC?

I too am runing the 2.8 pulley, stock timing, and no intercooler. I have logged over 100,00o miles on this setup with no problems. I am in the process of dialing in a water injection kit. So far I am running just nearly straight water ( 2% alcohol) and it is able to prevent knock while running Regular Fuel at 87 octane. It is the only kit I have found that is very tunable from the cockpit. Lots of tuning/testing yet to be done.

You’re not going to be able to just swap it in. You’ll need the Whipple mount, exit pipe and throttle body mount. That’s probably 85% of The whole system.
Well, a guy can wish, cant he?;)

If someone wants a supercharger already fitted to an 80, I know where you could get one straight-across for a brand new Hellcat wide body 6-speed manual (in red). :grinpimp:

I promise to buy one if you can make a kit that works on a ‘94! Great job—really rooting for you!
I had a nice conversation with @Speedytech7 the other day. And our general conclusion that weighing cost with performance the winner was likely the split second enricher. It has an integrated MAP sensor and adjustment is as simple adjusting the start point and then the slope of the response. Not real high tech but you working with a VAF system after all.

Well, I’ve just been told that I’ll be moving to South Korea for at least a year. Haven’t decided whether to bring the 80 at this point. I would consider loaning the truck out to you as an experiment specimen for the good of the people on these forums. We can work out the details if you’re interested.

Thanks but as of right now I don’t have the room for another vehicle.

So .... for a 95-97 this is a simple hardware install? No injector swap? Pinning the crank? I've shied away from the turbo setup because I don't push my truck high in the rev range often enough to feel like I would get the benefit of the power, but this has my attention. Can we expect a before and after dyno?

no Dynos, it flows slightly more than the TRD so expect as least the same performance. And if released it will include my SC Fan clutch amd scaled injector setup.

This thread is awesome!
Ordered some @landtank lower control arms for the 97 and this came up in conversation.

Thanks Rick!

so.. when can we buy this? been driving back and forth from CA to CO. Could really use more power from the Sierras all the way through into CO. I struggle hitting the 80mph speed limit through Utah on 35's and stock gearing. lol

next up is the water pipes.

I was going to ask if the I/C was a air/air or a/w - guessing a/w as I can’t see what the stock config cooling system might be, save around the T-stat housing. (And that is a reach.)

Interesting to see this Rick - I figured everyone was going turbo esp since the York OBA benefit, but I can still see the flipside where some guys don’t quite buy into turbo reliability or the whole issue of oil line install & say after-run oil circulation for the turbo bearings....lots of :worms:-the LC crowd can get particularly hyper-focused on.

Cool to see this, I wondered if momentum had been lost.

Momentum is what it always is, slow. I use a single shop for my production and prototyping. So I’m asking a lot from him and he has other customers as well.
I look forward to this as well I have a full tank af gas (although I won't drive the cruiser down I'll probably choose something more fuel efficient) some cash saved up 😁
