Of course you can and it would serve you well on the occasional dirt road to camp and would be much better on pavement the other 99% of the time.

That you don't want to is a completely different issue.
True, but the high mileage maintenance on those things are a chore! That also keeps me from wanting to get into one. I will keep it for hundreds of thousands of miles. Besides, a traditional 4x4 is what we like and want. We still will take excursions to off-road adventure parks and trips to Big Bend. Maybe twice a year we'll do some true off-roading.

My random thoughts on the 250..

Pricing.. competitive to a JL rubicon/Bronco badlands price (I configured "Mine" at 67k..)
So no issues there.. It has a rear locker and CDL.. I'm good with that.

Hybrid... Wish there was a "Non-hybrid" version, but then again they have been doing the hybrid thing for 20+ years, and the 250 is not using "new" tech so.. ok, fine with that.. I can live with it and the power is better than my 3UR

Battery Hump.... See above.. wish it wasn't there for drawers and stuff, but ok, fine..

3rd row... don't want it.. so Good to go there.

Its a Parado..
Yep, that's fine, honestly unless it was a 70 series, I wasn't getting that excited..
I'm kinda glad its not a 300.. but also kinda bummed too... my 200 is hard to replace..

We are probably going to get in line for early next year (May target) when the 4Xe lease comes up.. as it seems to be the perfect family car. we do a lot of miles in the 200 now yearly with kids travel sports so this will take its place.. But I'm not going to side eye for a build I think.. My 200 is already there, and does everything in spades..

I will build some "stuff" for it though.. so my wife may have to have a built car....

I'll go back to a tundra and build that for what I Dona nd the 200 will be a bit more dedicated to fun stuff..

So yeah.. probably going to buy one, once we can drive it..

Honestly I think they are going to sell a lot of them, and not just in the first year, but its already better than the 4RPro out of the gate in all trims kinda see this taking the 4r's place honestly..

My 2014 LC200 has 100,000 miles with not a single issue. Interior looks the same as the day I bought it.
FWIW, my wife's 1999 100 series has 327,000 miles and we've owned it for over 20 years. All told, I have less than $1500 of out of mx cycle repairs to date. The only drive train component I've replaced is the lower ball joints. Big items I've replaced include 1 starter, 1 muffler, 3 coil packs, 1 fan clutch, 1 antennae drive mechanism, 1 radio head unit, and the steering rack bushings. I did replace the front seat leather recently, so maybe add in another $800. It's been so reliable, I can't ever see not owning another (newer) one in the near future. It's also survived 2 significant accidents and took the impacts like a champ. Still driving it daily.

The question is: which “newer one”?

$20k in parts will some, if not all of, get you a lift, wheels, tires, real skids, real sliders, and two lockers! The 250 just has a rear locker.

It's even more attractive when you run the numbers with a used 460 in the $30-40k range.
It's even more attractive when you run the numbers on the 470 you already own.

Maybe the guy who spent $24K "restoring" his 06 GX with 200k miles was on to something.

I'm probably around $32-34K today all-in in my GX470, including the purchase price and maintenace/repairs over 3 years. It'll be north of $40K but hopefully under $50K after an 8.2 swap with lockers, winch bumper, rack, and some more LEDs :).

Still it's a lot more attractive than being north of $100K for a similar LC250/GX550 and the mods I'd want to do to it.

I have a 2005 100 series with 250k on it. Unfortunately it's lived in Maine it's whole life and the rust is finally winning. Im on the list for a GX and I just don't see it the more I run the numbers. I'm leaning towards a 570. Just need to figure out how to not make it look so Lexus like.

Similar experience in my 2005, however I'm only at 235,000 on the 100.

FWIW - if you drove an LC100 and an LC250 300k miles each, the LC100 would cost about $35,000 more in fuel. You would also spend more on timing belts in 300k miles than a battery replacement. You could replace the hybrid battery in the LC250 every 50k miles just in fuel savings vs the 100.

And this is at today's gas prices. Who knows what the gas prices will be over the course of doing 300k miles. Assuming they trend upwards, the math only gets stronger for the 250.

How about your health? Not many think about or know this, while others who do dismiss it and make it excuses for it, but it is a problem or potentially could be regarding your health and your family's...

There is a pretty big difference on up-front costs vs. ongoing O&M costs. Periodic fuel costs may be more than offset by taking the delta in purchase orice/payments and sticking it in an investment-earning account.

He makes a lot of assertions but provides no links to even a single peer-reviewed journal article to support his assertions.
Well, there are many articles on the googles. I can't do all the research for you. Just bringing it to light here. Large batteries in a vehicle have never been a good thing with human flesh sitting on top of it and unfortunately the "acceptable" amount of EMF or radiation is set by companies that have an interest in EV technology. Usually only the independent agencies will show the truth about EV technology on human health.

This is junk science. The author doesn't appear to understand even the basics of the intersection of radiation, ionization, and biology. Rolling down the windows on a sunny day is far more dangerous because you're removing the uv absorbing window film and letting in 100-400nm radiation in (the kind that actually causes cancer). If we're worried about radiation and cancer - skip the moonroof.

Hahahaha!

Alright, I did a little more research for ya...

There are lots of things on the internet. Many of them are completely made up. I won't give something creedence until and unless I see something published in a respected, peer-reviewed journal.

His article made a bunch of assertions of danger but without providing any evidence or any references to journal articles. Just saying "oohhh, EMF dangerous" isn't proof of anything.

A video from some guy on Youtube isn't a peer-reviewed journal article. It's just another talking head from some guy with unknown qualifications.

Show me an article in Nature or Science or a similar journal that shows real evidence of a link between electric vehicles and health risks.
