What are we going to do about the big chunk of body filler that fell out of the pass. rear door. BLO can't fix that one.
The exact same question I asked wngrog. I guess treat and keep an eye on it. If it progresses further I'll need to get a body shop involved, but that is WAAAY down the priority list at the moment.

I’ll chip it back a bit to get anything loose off the door and rock on. I’m the patina guy, someone else will have to paint over it. I could not stand to do it

My son helped me lift the superb full length Con Ferr rack from the piggie.

The plaid pattern left by the rack was pretty awesome but I needed to dig through it and see what is what under there.

Remarkably, there is zero cancer up top and the chrome trim is all in place.

Lots of elbow grease, 0000 steel wool, CLR and Zepp Orange later ...... we have a beautiful patina roof. I love it. This kind of thing makes it so fun.

I’ll try to remember days like today when I’m removing suspension components

@frismanis what year did he purchase it?
He brought it home May 27, 2019, so he had it 1.5 years. I think we've already put more miles on it driving around your driveway than he put on it in that 1.5 years. I'm trying to get more of the story about the previous owner from him.

Final move before my CLR elbow gave out and I quit for the day.

I’ve been experimenting with Penetrol on my a pig to get a more permanent coat for just such a surface.

Not easy to access...with the roof rack etc.

I think I have it figured out. You lay it on. Let it dry a day and add more after buffing it with a cloth.

Think clear coat with a oil.

Same principle as fluid film but it dries hard and no need for the creeping properties.

That looks awesome, bet that elbow is spent! Wonder if you could etch that roof as is and put a no gloss clear coat over it. Preserve it longer with less elbow grease later?

Clear coat is just paint. You paint over rust and you end up with bubbling clear coat.

These oil bases coats are the way to go.

I’ll add about 4 coats to the roof and it will be good to go

Back to more elbow .....

The hood really popped with my favorite Griots treatment. A couple of passes with the Complete Compound and a touch of Best Show wax

The CLR clean does great put it’s the ultimate strip so it’s important to go back with polish and wax or in the case of the roof an oil
