Ref: Post #34 in the PPR Pics thread.
I'm recruiting a small LURP* Team for a special farces mission to The Holy Land, preferably before winter shutdown.

The Objective: Find an easier softer way to Wet Camp Bald. The two we know are either quite tricky or very brushy.

The Game Plan: Up Shocksnapper to the five-way, then Upper Rough Butt to Wet Camp, then find the trail that goes north from there to the trail just east of Shortcut. Also try to explore the dotted lines from that trail.
Time permitting some play on Shortcut and Mud Ledge is possible.

Applicant will have reasonably hardy lifted Cruisers with traction and tire upgrades. Winches are a plus.
Applicant will endorse the philosophy that body damage=character and mechanical failure=upgrade opportunity.

Anyone interested PM or post up.

whos bringin the wine and cheese????? id be game if the timing is right.

i can't go this weekend because i land in back in town wed. and have a wedding in Raleigh on Sat. Perhaps the next two weekends i "think" are open.

Interested as well. Question...does this supercede the Snow Run?

I don't believe this would supercede a snowrun by any means..... what bill is putting together wouldn't be considered an offical "club ride" as the snow run will be.

Precisely. This itinerary wouldn't work at all in snow, not even sure we can do it all in the best of conditions.
Furthermore: Club rides are all-inclusive, this ride wouldn't work for a lot of our members.

My intention here is to discover a route to another camping area which will be accessible to all our trucks, if possible. I was hearing last weekend that the Rover peeps come up to THP every month. I was looking for a way for us to not end up on the same turf at the same time. This will entail traveling on heretofore unexplored paths. I'm loath to do that solo.
I was also trying to get in a little hard wheeling which we missed out on at PPR.

Those of you who have expressed interest are exactly the group I was hoping for. Equipment, skills etc mesh perfectly. Long term knowledge of the area, digital and 2D mapping, killer trucks, professional training all in a small bunch.

NOW . . . here comes the hard part . . . Scheduling:
If I had delayed starting this foolishness one more day I would have cancelled the idea. This morning BMW announced mandatory work Saturdays for Nov 17, Dec 1 and possibly 15 and 22. This Sat the 3rd is already on.
Jeri is taking me on a 'Romantic Getaway Weekend' on Nov 10. North v South at URE is Dec 8.
That leaves Thanksgiving weekend.
If that rules out everybody and there is another weekend that you all (or at least two) can make my only alternative is if I can get the Fri PM or Mon AM off (that's what you have to do at the plant to protect a Saturday.) That means no more than two of my 30+ team have already put down for it.
So . . . Thankgiving weekend anyone? This trip only needs a day, two would be better, but we COULD do it in a day if necessary.

Comments?

well i just found out that I won't be doing thanksgiving over in maggie valley rather augusta ga........... but I still think I should be able to attend :D

Got to mull this one over too. We have plans for that weekend, just don't know how solid they are. I was hoping for something in the first couple weekends of December. I'll post up if anything changes. I really want to do some exploring with the LURP.

All righty then! Looks like a go for Thanksgiving weekend. We'll settle on some part of Fri-Sun when the time gets a little closer eh?
JP and Andy sound pretty sure. Rick I hope you can work it in. Alex it sounds like your meditations are positive, I'm pretty sure we can find you some winch and personality marks opportunities. Jason I'll bring some good mountain cheese, you can bring your own wine. Unless you're willing to drink sparkling grape juice. That's as close as I come.
I'm sorry we won't have Dan's semi-submersible Cado. I was hoping to plumb the depths of the bog at Wet Camp.
