Alrighty....I have the hub socket, fishscale, snap ring SST pliers and
a 24mm six point socket waiting. Right where the are supposed to be.
In the 40. :)
I started thinking......dangerous.....and wondered if there is a difference
in size from my 72 to your 89?
Hmmmmm...anybody know off hand?
First time I took Gundy's off they had been whacked so bad by a
PO that I had to use hammer and chiesel to remove it. The hub
socket wouldn't fit the thing was so fawked up. I ground the "burrs"
off so the socket would fit. Install was so much easier.
POs :flipoff2:
See you tomorrow. I'll have a cold one waiting.

Jeeezz,

There was some grade A talent at the scrippa club. Well I'm just now dragging my sorry broke ass into bed. I'm going to set my alarm for 11:00. I should be up and ready to roll around 11:30. See you guys in a few hours :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:.

I'm leaving for davids now so should be back right about 1, I will call you marshall when I leave davids, but incase I don't have a signal just plan on heading this way about 1230......... I got your beer in the fridge....

So JP did you get it back together? Or did you break another one of my tools.

And David that socket must be for earlier cruisers. It was to small. We were lucky I brought mine in my emegency kit.

There has to be some kind of cut off point on the smaller size.

Almost back together, I didn't get home until a little before 8 o'clock I have to test the tension (fish scale tool) and then put the hub back on, should not take long at all. I just ran out of light. I will just get up at the ass crack of dawn and put it back together before class...........Thanks for the help Marshall and Matt

Todd, I think you have done yourself more damage than I. I never mentioned your name, you called yourself out here........... there are few people that know who I bought my cruiser from, and those few mostly consist of my close friends, not people here on mud. The few on mud that might remember when I purchased my 62 from you, I would imagine they rarely find there way into this club forum and even less a chance they would take the time to read this pointless thread by ClemsonCruiser about needing help rebuidling his leaky drivers side Knuckle.

So I don't think any name DAMNing was done on my part, and I do believe I was justified in my statement because it is obvious you knew of this problem, the seals purchased by you are evidence. You failed to mentioned when I asked you of any know problems about the leaky knuckle, I am sure any honest mistake. However I don't find you assuming that I will open a box that is supposed to contain the rear spider gears and see those seals (since I have no cluewhat those seals were for at the time) and think "oh!, those must be for the leaky knuckle that wasn't mentioned but............ i should obviously know about" No hard feelings ;)

I think you're out of line, JP. Sending me a PM, getting the straight story from me in detail and then coming back to this public forum, especially after I deleted my post, it's not right. Bottom line, I gave you a box of parts that included seals (that I did not purchase). Seals leak to varying degrees and had I thought those seals needed to be replaced I would have done it myself. Like I said in my reply to your PM, I carry seals and lots of other parts in my 80 when I wheel, as I did in your 62. Doesn't mean the parts need to be replaced today, just means that I'm prepared to do so when the time comes. In this case, the time apparently came a good while after you bought the truck. I apologize if I didn't forecast basic maintenance on an old truck to an accurate enough degree for you.

I think it's interesting also that you assume that only people you know are aware that I sold you the truck. Guess what, I know people too.

Again, you're out of line. Move on.

Done.

I'd say delete the whole post and work it out in PM. I also say attacking a club member on club soil is a sin.

And the fact that the hub was so beat up by the PO or the PPO or PPPO or PPPPO really doesn't matter it was a accident waiting to happen. The rotor seal area had been so beat up there was no way any seal new or old would have prevented the diff oil from leaking into the knuckle and onto the rotor once the inner axle seal failed. Most of the times it leaks out the knuckle not slung out the rotor. It was a botched job from the beginning whether you new about it or not.

Todd, I replied to here before I read your PM, and I apologize for that.... I did not know you were not the one who purchased the seals.

In my defense this problem has been there since I drove the home, here is the link to prove it :https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=19028, at the time I thought it was a break problem, I am a novice mechanic for sure. I wouldn't have said anything if this problem would have come up months later, you are right that would be ludicrous of me. I understand the basic maintenance of an old truck, if I didn't I would have been on here crusing the PO when the water pump went out, or the fan clutch, or the power steering pump, or the ignition system. But I know this was nothing you could have predicted and I wouldn't blame you for those problems. I apologize if I made a wrong assumption, but I don't think I was out of line since the problem was there from the time I drove the cruiser and you had provided me with seals to fix the problem. It was only a logical conclusion on my part, but if you say you had no knowledge of it that is good enough for me.

I find tempers flare very easy on when using text as the medium for communication as opposed face to face. It is easy to misjudge the intet of a message. I think that may have been the case here, you thought I was out to get you and I thought you were doing the same to me....... no worries :)

I just wish you'd said something directly to me about it. I thought you'd had a brake problem and had the ignition module go bad and that was all. In retrospect, with the seal leaking to what I thought was a minor degree I guess I should have replaced the seals myself. I'm sorry about that but intended no deception at all. I feel like I represented the truck as it was -- lots of new parts but still 16 years old. In fact I believe that's exactly what I said to your mom. The moaning power steering pump I mentioned (and it's common), the rest is unpredictable. Based on the receipts from me and the work you've done about half that truck is new. In any case I'm sorry about the misunderstanding on both sides.
