Okay yall so instead if lurking and posting random questions i decided to try to get my build thread going.. so here goes...

A little background mostly for my sake... My FJ60 was my first car so she means a lot to me i got the truck on my 17th birthday in an unusual fashion which was six spark plugs a handfull of wrenches and a good luck. after bringing her back to life with my dad i drove that truck harder than i should have which eventually leads us to the full monty rebuild (well sorta).

after a couple years of hard driving all over the state of Texas she started to get tired and worn out, but without fail would get you where you needed to go. after a while it started to burn oil and had such bad compression, vacuum, and blowby in the cylinders (it would put out crazy amounts of white smoke under the hood) that we decided that it was time for a rebuild on the motor which as im sure most of you know snowballs fast

when we pulled the motor i was really quite impressed with how big and brutish the whole drivetrain really is.

next we disassembled the motor (leaving the trans and transfer case alone) once we got the head off and basically had the bare block you could grab the flywheel and spin the motor and it would go a good 3 revolutions at least so i figured theres my power problem

here is everything before it went to the machinist

had 3 cylinders look like this gem here, notice the big chunk taken out of the side

then came the stripping the paint and body work, i had some rust in my drivers side quarter and the drivers floor was rusted out all along the rocker from the A pillar to the B pillar and both my passenger doors were smashed in, we also filled some minor dings and dents from hail and just travel in general

okay now i know that its basically a sin but i liked the blue that the truck used to be but i didnt want to do the metallic so we went with a single stage Jeep color: Anvil (code PDS i think). its a really awesome gray blue its really too bad its a Heep color...

DUDE! Thats so awesome! What parts of texas are you in?

I've always thought the Anvil Gray would be an amazing color on the FJ60. Glad someone did it but too bad I wasnt the first. In the long run. A factory color would be easy to match so thats a huge benefit. I used to have a 2013 Rubicon 10th Anniversary in Anvil Gray and I'll tell ya! I went 3 months without washing the Jeep because the color hides the mess so well.

Good color

Love to see a 60 getting a new lease on life! The new color's pretty cool, although that Texas patina with a clear coat would be nice too. Are you doing the engine bay and chassis as well? +1 for more pics
