Okay bringing this thread back to life with a long overdue bump, after MANY trips across this beautiful state of Texas, the rebuilt drivetrain is a beast and pulls better than ever with 11.4 mpg at 80 mph screaming out on the highway in fourth gear and I mean screaming (around 3100rpm). next steps are looking like practicality over cool stuff, so it looks like a new skid plate and some sort of fuel range solution are my first thoughts. skid plate is pretty straight forward, but the fuel thing is an idea i want to throw a line out on... so hear me out on this... could fuel bladders be put in the quarterpanels for use as auxilary tanks? or is that too risky? i know it would only be a couple gallons of added fuel but im not looking to add a ton of extra gas just 5-7 gallons and keep the spare under the rig for the moment. thoughts?
