Where's the steering stuff from?

looks like its turning out pretty good man, good job. did you c&t the axle or are you just gonna try running shims of some sort?

Hit a pretty big road block that's going to slow me down. Started welding my shock mounts on, got one side of the right side mount welded, went to weld the other side and my welder quit feeding wire :mad::mad:. So trying to fix my welder, it's a millermatic 130 XP, I know the motor works, the switch on the handle works, the relays work and the gas solenoid works it just doesn't feed wire. Priced out a new welder and I can get what I want for 1,200, which would be a miller 211, but I'm going to try to fix mine first. Did some research and found the circuit board in it will cause it not to feed wire and they are known to fail, so for 75 bucks I'll try it and see what happens. Hope that will fix it of I'm gonna have to fork out FAT STACKS for a new welder.

Borrowed a welder from a friend and was able to get my shock mounts welded on. Pulled the rear axle out, put new leaf spring bushings in, it's all ready to put the taco axle in and weld the perches on.

Happy new year everyone! The rear axle is in and now sitting on all 4 tires. The front is lower than the rear, but I need to get my other tires on it and get it on level ground, then check things out before I make any changes. I had to make a new bracket for the parking brake cable and all I had was some big angle iron, so I cut it down, made it the right height, and tried to make it not look like a piece of angle iron, now it looks like an A. But what the heck its on there and it works. I'm using the stock parking brake cable, also had to make a short extension for the parking brake cable since the taco axle is a little wider. Need to make brake lines, shock mounts, and get some rear shocks, then it's time for the engine swap.

Sorry if it's earlier in your thread, but what year Tacoma axle is that?

Great work so far! What reasons did you choose the taco rear? Not that theres anything wrong with it, I just don't know much about that axle.

I'll guess that because you wouldn't have to convert it to SOA?

Thanks. I'm swapping in a 5.7 TBI 700r4, and a NP205 transfer case. The NP205 output for the rear axle is centered, so I wanted to get an axle with a center diff. It's 60'' wide, 4.10:1 gears, good axle.

Ah yes... I always forget about T cases and rear axle compatibility :o
Makes complete sense now haha.

Trim them u-bolts!

What's up everyone, I know its been a while but I have been crazy busy with work and life. Got the engine, trans, and t case pulled, old mounts cut off. Put the 350 in, found there's no way in heck the stock manifolds are going to work. I was going to make my engine mounts but I never had any time to go get materials so I bought the 350 mounting kit from advance adapters, I think it will be a lot easier in the long run. Got the scab plates welded on the frame, and that's about as far as I got today.
