What I saw was measure 5x, cut 5x....Sparks was flyin'!

Looking AMAZING Kevin and minions!! Keep the updates coming :grinpimp:

Have done a bit, but little worth taking pix or failed to take them. A couple of rounds with the pressure washer, paint stripper (who thought it would be good to paint parts yellow, red?), rust treat the frame, trip to pick & pull, etc.

Worked on the power steering reseal, first the pump. Always a mess, gooey fluid. This type of pump is a pain, lots of springs!

It is in great condition, this type often has bushing wear, these look good. After lots of fiddling with the springs, it went together well, looks good.

Next up, the power steering box, this didn't go as well. The sector shaft didn't want to come out, ended up pressing it out. Hard to tell from the pix, but it is bent! Have seen them twisted, broken, but this is the first bent one that I have seen. The donor rig was reportedly hit pretty good, bent front axle. Good thing we decided to reseal it!

Have more boxes, but we decided to go to Macayo's for dinner.:hillbilly: Will try again on Monday.

Ugh! Might be a lot like work to straiten that on the press. Still available from Toyota?

That box looks to have little wear, but not likely worth a new shaft. Better just to use another box?

uh yeah, that is rounded

On '40's the right frame has failed/broken a few times on the trail, so easier to repair at the shop, before it's broken? Made a :hillbilly: CAD drawing, pattern, copied the left side.

Look, a new power unit, but it's also old and tired!

Transferred it to steel, in this case imported from some far away exotic location!:hillbilly: It happens to be the same thickness as the frame. Chopped it out with the sparky thingy and stuck it on with the smoke wrench.

Setting the adjuster play.

Don't forget the big o-ring buried deep in that end!

Polished stuff ready to go together.

The SST for setting preload.

The washer under the adjuster has a seal. If you adjust the play in a box, then have a leak, this is likely the culprit. IIRC, it is available separately.
